Worst of Music: Enrique Iglesias – Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)

Enrique Iglesias is one of the all-time great Worst of Music singers. If I gave out lifetime achievement awards, Enrique would be a front-runner to win the first one. With songs like Be With You, Bailamos, Hero and I Like It, it’s a wonder how he’s still allowed to still make music. Well, he’s back again featuring Ludacris with Tonight. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Britney Spears – Hold It Against Me

Since marrying Kevin Federline (AKA K-Fed and AKA FedEx), Britney Spears has basically disappeared off the face of the earth apart from tabloid appearances marking her train wrecking life. The highlight of her musical career since marrying Federline in 2004 was the semi-nude behind the scenes pictures from the video for her 2007 song Gimme More. Since her marriage, she released two completely forgettable albums. Well, now she’s back with her latest overhyped comeback attempt with the new single Hold It Against Me. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Wiz Khalifa – Black And Yellow

Chances are you’ve heard this week’s WoM winner before. The thing is that you may have heard this song in one of its many knock-off or reworked versions such as Blue and Yellow for the San Diego Chargers, Red and Yellow for the Kansas City Chiefs, Blue and Orange for the New York Mets, White and Navy for the New York Yankees, Black and Purple for the TCU Horned Frogs and Purp and Yellow for the Los Angeles Lakers. The original song by rapper Wiz Khalifa is a song he wants to become the fight song of the Pittsburgh Steelers and is called Black and Yellow. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Bruno Mars – Grenade

This week’s Worst of Music song isn’t necessarily a horrible song. Sure, it’s annoying but it’s not ear bleedingly bad. No, this week’s WoM highlights singer hypocrisy and how it’s used to make a song popular. This week’s Worst of Music song is Grenade by Bruno Mars. It may have dumb lyrics and sound overly melodramatic but those aren’t the only reasons why it’s this week’s WoM. Continue reading

Worst of Music 2010: Train – Hey, Soul Sister

You didn’t think that I wouldn’t hand out a Worst of Music award winner for 2010. Train ducked the weekly WoM awards by never really finding their way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 when I was picking out a winner. Sure, this song was bad but more in the ungodly annoying way instead of the downright atrocious way. But you can’t duck the WoM forever. Hey, Soul Sister was everywhere from the radio to commercials and was annoying people every second. Continue reading

DJ Earworm’s United State of Pop 2010

Every year, DJ Earworm mashes up Billboard’s top 25 songs of the year into one megamix. This matchup is so popular that its release inevitably leads to his site crashing from the heavy traffic. And that’s why we have it here. This year’s United State of Pop may be subtitled “Don’t Stop The Pop” but it’s definitely heavy with hip hop and dance music. That would explain why I count 12 Worst of Music winning songs among the 25 mashed up into this. Hit the jump for the song and a listing of the songs mashed up into it. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Majela – Father Christmas F’ed My…

I know Christmas was two days ago but we’ve got a Christmas themed edition of the Worst of Music today. Mind you, I think this song could surpass being the Worst of Music this week and be the single worst thing to befall the world in Christmas 2010. There’s a YouTube artist by the name of Majela and her songs have an unhealthy focus on her… lady parts. Unfortunately for the world, she did up a Christmas song that makes you glad that not every YouTube artist becomes Justin Bieber. It’s called “Father Christmas Fucked My Pussy.” Continue reading

Lowdown BlogCast Classic: December 25, 2007

Back in the day, The Lowdown actually did a proper Christmas special unlike what the last three turned into. This episode contains some of the best Christmas songs ever written and performed. The show includes songs by some of today’s big artists along with classic Christmas songs that you grew up listening to. The boys weren’t restricted by annoying radio management restrictions about Canadian content in this episode so it’s the best of the best. Over the course of the episode, there are nine songs for your holiday listening pleasure.

Lowdown BlogCast: December 21, 2010

It’s time once again for the annual Lowdown Christmas Special. Like last year’s Christmas episode, this year once again brings us a look at the weirdest and wackiest of Christmas music. There are a lot of bands and singers that you’ve heard of that have made bad Christmas music and we have found some pretty embarrassing entries into their musical repertoires. As an added bonus, the boys give you their annual Christmas gift buying guide as well as the usual ridiculous Lowdown banter that we’re known for.

Worst of Music: Trey Songz – Bottoms Up

Last week was a break from the usual hip-hop and dance songs that dominate the Worst of Music series. This week, it’s a return to the same old with a hip-hop song that even uses autotune. The worst song this week is by someone calling himself Trey Songz featuring Nicki Minaj with Bottoms Up. Continue reading
