F1 Power Rankings: Canadian Grand Prix

It’s time for my favourite race of the Formula One World Championship. The F1 circus makes its only stop of the season in North America this weekend for the Canadian Grand Prix. This is largely homerism but the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is one of today’s great Grand Prix circuits. Regardless of the fact that it’s part street circuit and part dedicated race track, it always produces an exciting and unpredictable event. Maybe that’s what some folks need to knock Sebastian Vettel off the top step of the podium. Continue reading

Once a year, the stars of NASCAR travel outside the borders of the United States for a big race. This weekend was the fourth annual NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Nationwide Series features some of NASCAR’s biggest stars competing with some stars of the future. Not only were the Nationwide stars there but so were several Canadian heroes like Jacques Villeneuve, Patrick Carpentier, Ron Fellows and Andrew Ranger. So who took the checkered flag? We have a race recap, analysis, results and driver comments after the jump. Continue reading

Two Amazing NASCAR Finishes At Montreal

The good old boys of NASCAR provided not one but two amazing finishes at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve today. The morning excitement was provided by the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series which saw a final turn bump-and-run for the win. The evening’s fun was provided by the main event of the weekend as the NASCAR Nationwide Series saw the race decided by 12-one-thousandths of a second. Continue reading

Montreal NASCAR Wrapup and Retweets

The NASCAR Nationwide Series made its only appearance north of the border this weekend. The stars of the NASCAR’s top development series came to Montreal for the only race of NASCAR’s three national touring series outside the US. Not only were the Nationwide stars there but so were several Canadian heroes like Jacques Villeneuve, Patrick Carpentier, Alex Tagliani, and Andrew Ranger. Canadian GP To Return Next Year?

With the 2010 Formula One World Championship schedule to be released next week, it’s crunch time for promoters looking to get a Grand Prix on the calendar. After a year’s absence from the rotation, Canada looks to make a return to Formula One. But another group is might want its hands on a big race in Montreal. Continue reading

F1 In Canada: TSN Sucks and Return to Montreal

So the 2009 F1 season kicked off with a bang.  Rubens Barrichello managed to cause a four car pile-up in the first turn after chunking the start.  Meanwhile, some guy named Jenson Button won the race followed by Barrichello (who got back to second after some other guys crashed) and Lewis Hamilton (thanks to a stewards’ decision that went his way for once).

Over here in Canada, things weren’t quite so rosy. Continue reading
