Two Amazing NASCAR Finishes At Montreal

The good old boys of NASCAR provided not one but two amazing finishes at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve today. The morning excitement was provided by the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series which saw a final turn bump-and-run for the win. The evening’s fun was provided by the main event of the weekend as the NASCAR Nationwide Series saw the race decided by 12-one-thousandths of a second.

Here’s the final corners of the NAPA AutoPro 100. The leader is #11 Jason Bowles who is being followed by hometown boy Andrew Ranger in the #27 Dodge. What you don’t see at the start of the video is Bowles bumping Ranger out of the way in the hairpin turn at the top of the long straight leading to the final chicane. At the final turn, Ranger decided it was time for payback. And listen to the crowd as this is happening. Montreal loves good racing whether it’s F1 or NASCAR.

NASCAR Nationwide Series

The NAPA Auto Parts 200 had been going on for nearly three-and-a-half hours when we reached the finish. The video below has the whole green-white-checkers finish to the race but if you’d rather watch the end, skip to about 3:25. Robby Gordon was questionable on fuel levels and couldn’t make it to Turn 5 on the two to go lap. That left a three-way fight between road course specialists #09 Boris Said, #33 Max Papis and #32 Jacques Villeneuve. A missed overtaking attempt on the final lap left Villeneuve out of the running but still left an outstanding drag race for the win on the front straight.
