Wednesday Link-Off: The Reality of Falsehood

From fictional TV to allegedly real TV to factual TV, everyone is trying to piece together a narrative that serves their own purpose. Is there anyone left in this world that we can trust besides ourselves? That diatribe probably has nothing to do with the links that follow but meh.

So after Max Verstappen’s shock win in his Red Bull debut, the teams stuck around for a few more days to do some testing for the first time during this season.

Entertainment Link-Off: Age of Apocalypse

katrina bowdenPrior to posting the ELO, I managed to catch X-Men Apocalypse. I gotta say, it doesn’t quite deserve all the knocks against it. The film is definitely not the best of the new trilogy but it’s far from being a disaster like The Last Stand. The CG seemed a bit wonky at certain parts but the performances were fine and the comedic beats still hit on the right notes. Anyway, that’s enough about the latest X-Men flick, it’s time to get on with the links. Gonna kick things off with Katrina Bowden just because she looks mighty fine in her latest shoot.

Overwatch Open Beta Impressions: For the Watch

overwatch-beta-headerIn the run up to its much-anticipated release next week, Blizzard ran the final big beta test for their upcoming first-person shooter franchise Overwatch. While some features, like competitive play, weren’t in the beta, this is the best chance that everyone is going to have to try the game out before Blizzard sticks it hand out looking for $60 for the game. Fortunately for Blizzard, they put a very strong foot forward by basically letting players have a go at a near-complete version of the game.

A lot of older people see that as millennials being entitled but isn’t it just everyone acting differently than previous generations because they have access to information that no other generation had to make their decisions?

F1 Spanish Grand Prix: Come Together

f1-2016-spain-verstappenThe big controversy of the last week in Formula One was completely overshadowed in less than two hours on Sunday. Red Bull’s driver swap dominated conversation from when it was made official last Friday through to the start of the race on Sunday. After a fourth turn collision between the two Mercedes, suddenly that controversy was put on the back burner and a new Mercedes one rose to the forefront.

The other thing that ended the Red Bull controversy? That would be Max Verstappen taking the opportunity that Red Bull handed him and scoring his first victory in Formula One in his first race for Red Bull Racing.

Sunday Link-Off: Death and Taxes

jennifer-lawrence-harpersbazaar16-01As I’m writing today’s links, I’m watching the F1 Spanish Grand Prix. Tomorrow’s write-up will be pretty good considering all that’s happened during this race. All Formula One needed to make things interesting was to get the Mercedes out of the way. Granted, we already knew that but it certainly a refreshing race.
