We’re so used to terrible moments of soul-crushing horror moments in Game of Thrones that happy moments are so few and far between that I’m not sure I remember the last happy moment that this show had. This week, though, we finally got some happy moments. Clearly, George didn’t write this episode. Granted, he could have since it was a damn good episode.

Entertainment Link-Off: Superhero Landing
The weekend is here, so it’s time for the quick weekly fix of entertainment links. I’m sure most of you are still enamored with Captain America Civil War right now, so that’s probably why most of the big releases are holding back for now. Meanwhile in Australia, I already caught the release of Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising. It’s quite the funny flick despite the recycled premise. Anyway I’m looking forward to the release of The Nice Guys next week. At the premiere for the film, Greer Grammer just happened catch my attention, so let’s kick off the ELO with her this week.
After the jump, some Marvel casting news, Fantastic Four 2 still might happen, John Cho would make a great leading man, first look at Assassin’s Creed, Deadpool mocks Deadpool and a new Kpop band has hit the scene! Umm well… sort of. Continue reading
Game of Thrones: Oathbreaker Review
Entertainment Link-Off: Finally Catching Up!
To the folks in North America, you finally get the chance to see Captain America: Civil War in cinemas this weekend! It might be worth multiple viewings to catch those Easter eggs. Anyway, it’s Saturday again, so it’s time for the ELO. I’m gonna kick things off with Cantopop duo A2A. I’m really digging their new track, so I’ve included their latest music video in the links below.
After the jump, we got a new Han Solo, Deadpool helps with ED, the Chinese will get first dibs on Warcraft, imagine what would happen if civil war happened on the CW’s DC universe, James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke just went to a whole new level and finally there is some new music to check out. Continue reading
Game of Thrones: Home Review
Is it better for a story to be predictable or should it throw a few curveballs at you along the way? If every story was plot twists for their own sake, it would be Vince Russo booking and that put WCW out of business (among many, many, many other things). Some of the various characters had some pretty big twists in their stories while other big stories just went the way we expected. It’s a nice mix and probably the way that the stories needed to go.
Entertainment Link-Off: United We Stand, Divided We Fall
While the folks over in North America will have to wait a bit longer, there are certain areas overseas that can catch Captain America: Civil War in cinemas already this weekend (and that includes Australia)! The flick is garnering good reviews and is on track to take the box office by storm. I managed to catch the screening earlier and let’s just say it lives up to the hype. Ok, time to kick off the ELO and there’s no better way than to start with Agent 13 from the movie! Emily Vancamp is certainly looking very good in the latest photoshoot here.
After the jump, The Punisher is coming to a small screen near you, we got a new Lara Croft, Keanu is playing Keanu in Keanu, The Maze Runner 3 is put on hold indefinitely and there are a few Game of Thrones tidbits to check out. Continue reading
Game of Thrones: The Red Woman Review
It’s been over ten months but the long wait for something new from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones franchise and Sunday was the start of Season Six of HBO’s Game of Thrones. This also marked the start of brand new material for the franchise. The five books were exhausted in the last season so this episode was the first look at A Song of Ice and Fire for everyone.
Entertainment Link-Off: White is the New Yellow
The highly anticipated weekend for the Game of Thrones premiere is finally here. Rather than pondering over Jon Snow’s fate, let’s just take some time and go through this week’s ELO shall we? Let’s kick things off with red hot Agents of SHIELD star Chloe Bennett at the premiere of Captain America: Civil War. Sometimes I wish I had given Agents of SHIELD a chance, but for some reason I never got past one season of the show.
After the jump, addressing the issue of whitewashing Asian roles, adjusting the Marvel Cinematic Universe a little bit, that delayed Alien flick is still happening, and Arya Stark visits a local hobby shop. Continue reading
Superheroines vs Supervillainesses: The Women of the DC Universe (Infographic)
So Batman v Superman: Donna Justice isn’t doing as well as Warner Bros hoped that it would do. I hate to say that the whole world told them so but they saw who the director was and told them so.
Now, Batman v Superman puts the names of the two male protagonists front and centre. The Justice League and Suicide Squad are both mostly made up of men. However, beyond just Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn, DC actually features a whole host of strong female characters in their universe. To learn a little more about them, here’s a handy infographic that’s a primer to the women of the DC Universe.
Entertainment Link-Off: So It Continues…
Where has the week gone? It’s Saturday again, so it’s time to go through the weekly links in entertainment. The Jungle Book is getting tons of great reviews, so it might be worthwhile to check it out in cinemas this weekend. Anyway, let’s kick the ELO off with Sophie Turner. The season 6 premiere for Game of Thrones is fast approaching. Get excited folks!
After the jump, everyone is fighting to make a Pokemon live action movie, a few Game of Thrones tidbits, a few sequel news, Furious 7 deserved a few Oscars, and check out the first Asian jedi! Continue reading
