F1 2014 Season Preview: Drivers and Teams

After updating you on the rules for this season, now it’s time to get you up to speed with the drivers and teams competing in this year’s Formula One World Championship.

It’s not just the drivers being allowed to choose their own numbers that has changed things in the entry list. Unlike 2013 which saw very few driver changes, this season sees all but Mercedes and Marussia with a driver lineup change. Webber’s retirement, Ferrari dumping Massa and Lotus’ money troubles started a domino effect through the whole of the field in 2014.

F1 2014 Season Preview: Rules Changes

We’re less than a week away from the start of the 2014 Formula One World Championship. The cars turn their wheels in anger for the first time this weekend in Australia at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne.

While, theoretically, the championship is up for grabs every season, given that there are generally few major rules changes between season, the dominant teams from previous seasons stay on top in the next. This season, however, the rules changes are so many and so extensive that you can expect a major shake up in the running order.

Sunday Link-Off: Back in the USSR

I don’t know if we’re looking at a rekindling of the Cold War or the start of something much worse but Putin’s foreign relations policies seem to be as if the last 25 years didn’t happen.

Anyway, it’s Sunday which means that it’s time to do the links. Let’s start with one of our favourite women, Anna Kendrick.

The so-called Fair Elections Act introduced by the Conservative government would be anything but. A look at the Act would indicate that it would be among the worst things that could happen to Canadian democracy. (Canada.com)

Entertainment Link-Off: Seize Your Glory

eva greenAt the box office this weekend marks the anticipated quasi-sequel 300: Rise of an Empire. The green screen heavy war epic is back for another round of stylized action and bloodfest. At least there’s a lot more eye candy to go around this time as Eva Green is featured prominently as Artemisia.

The Elder Scrolls Online Beta Impressions: Prison Break

the-elder-scrolls-online-wallpaperI think I’ve mentioned it a couple of times before that I’m not a fan of MMOs. If the subscription model (that requires you to pay the equivalent of four games to play for that first year) and microtransactions aren’t enough to scare me off, the grinding and fetch quests seal the deal.

I’m not unwilling to put my previous experiences aside to give MMOs another try. For example, I got into last weekend’s beta session for The Elder Scrolls Online and was willing to give that a try to see if I’d like it.

Star Wars: Episode VI Retold In Icons

When we originally ran the posts, he had completed A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. By the time that he completed Return of the Jedi, we had slightly forgotten about his series even though they were quite popular.
