Sunday Link-Off: Meanwhile, in Canada

I’m trying to write stuff for The Lowdown and et geekera while holding down a job and trying to have other hobbies. That’s why today’s SLO comes in three hours later than normal. I didn’t get this done until an hour before it went live. And now, it’s immediately on to the next post(s). There ain’t no rest for the wicked.

Sunday Link-Off: Working for the (Long) Weekend

danielle-knudson-bodycentral14-06It’s time for the final long weekend of the summer. Get your white wearing done this weekend because it’s Labour Day weekend. I’d say that you should also get some barbecuing in this weekend but the weather is shit now but it’s really been kinda poor all summer.

Anyway, it’s Sunday so that means that we’re here to do the links. Let’s kick things off with Canadian model Danielle Knudson.

Writing a gaming blog, I’ve been reading all about misogyny in gaming for the last couple of weeks and it got to the point that there was no other news people were reporting so I’ve taken a short break to let the news refresh itself. However, gaming is far from the only remaining home of misogyny. One US Senator has revealed that she’s being sexually harassed by fellow lawmakers. (Think Progress)

The sad state of Frosh Week at my old haunt of UWO… Move-in volunteers aren’t allowed to touch a box with alcohol branding on it for fear of the photo being spun against UWO by saying university students drink. Wednesday Link-Off: Power and Politics

Wednesday Link-Off: The Politics of Failure

danielle-knudson-guess14-02We’re just a few days away from the Super Bowl and can you feel the excitement in the air? Okay, neither can I. All I can feel is frozen. Mind you, I would like watching a game with snow and cold. It’s like the Snow Bowl edition of the Grey Cup. Fantastic setting for a football game.

While the Americans are struggling with unemployment after the bank bailouts and economic crisis, Iceland letting banks failing has allowed their unemployment to get below 4%. (Bloomberg)

People often mock Republicans for living in a bubble and creating their own reality but Ted Cruz confirmed that on national TV this weekend. He went on Face the Nation and flatout lied about the government shutdown. Even veteran journalist Bob Schieffer couldn’t help but laugh at him. (Raw Story)

Sunday Link-Off: It All Comes Down To Tuesday

The trouble with having two national holidays in the same week is that the blogosphere basically shuts down. As a result, we’re a little short on content today.
