F1 British GP: I Give Up On TSN and Jarno Trulli

For the final time, the British Grand Prix was held at Silverstone. Sebastian Vettel took the win in a Red Bull one-two finish. Sadly, though, this won’t be the last Grand Prix aired on TSN. Once again, they managed to bring their coverage down a notch. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: In A Chokehold

gina-carano-maxim1In honour of our first link, here’s Gina Carano. After reading the first link, I hope she looking as good after her next fight. And insert the sorta obvious Gina Carano hold joke here.

FIA Starts Legal Action Against FOTA

As I predicted earlier today, the FIA will be taking legal action against FOTA over their proposed breakaway series. The FIA claims that the FOTA teams have breached contractual obligations and violated competition laws. They also singled out Ferrari in their legal action for their breach of commercial agreements with the FIA. Continue reading

FOTA Announces F1 Breakaway Series

The Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) has dropped a bombshell ahead of tomorrow’s announcement of the final entry list for the 2010 Formula One World Championship. In a move reminiscent of the CART/IRL split, FOTA announced on Thursday night that they would form their own breakaway series starting in 2010. Continue reading

Canadian GP To Return Next Year?

With the 2010 Formula One World Championship schedule to be released next week, it’s crunch time for promoters looking to get a Grand Prix on the calendar. After a year’s absence from the rotation, Canada looks to make a return to Formula One. But another group is might want its hands on a big race in Montreal. Continue reading

Provisional 2010 F1 Entry List Announced

The FIA announced the provisional entry list for the 2010 Formula 1 World Championship today. The 13 spots on the 2010 grid will filled with the 10 current F1 operations and 3 new start-up teams. Of course, with all the controversy leading up to this announcement, it would only be proper that the list itself was controversial. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: Simply Smashing

eva-longoria-mexicangq7After one Sunday Link-Off, don’t be surprised to see it moved or cancelled soon. Anywho, for now, we have Eva Longoria from her recent Mexican GQ shoot. After the jump, NASCAR driver Kyle Busch took his custom guitar trophy and pulled a Pete Townshend.

Picture this in your mind. It’s October 1995. You’re at the Skydome in some temporary grandstands surrounding a basketball court. “Ladies and gentlemen, get on your feet. Here is the starting lineup for your TORONTO TARANTULAS!” (Wall Street Journal)

A look at the most bizarre children’s shows in the history of television. “Puff the Magic Dragon” should have made it simply for its name. Mind you, I always thought “Bananas in Pajamas” is actually a stoners’ show. (Boston Globe)

Earlier this week, I looked at a possible F1 race boycott by the teams. It actually wasn’t the first time that the teams would have walked away from the race. (F1 Fanatic)

Wednesday Link-Off: General Oddities

06_maria-sharapova_21Starting on Sunday, we’re adding a third link-off to the weekly lineup. Imaginitively, we’re thinking of calling it “Sunday Link-Off”. But first, this is Maria Sharapova who was sadly bumped from the French Open. After the jump, the coolest mayor in the world.

Teenagers are using hugs as a greeting. Naturally, parents are worried that these are public displays of affection and will lead to groping and other lewd behaviour. (New York Times) As an aside, I always found hugging to be an odd greeting. Will I turn one down? No, but I’m fond of the sharp nod and/or a quick twitch of the eyebrows as a greeting.

The latest in Microsoft’s series of epic failures is their new search engine, Bing. You’ll love the story behind the name. Talk about trying too hard. (New York Times)

Wait, here’s another one. In what will likely be the most controversial game ever, an ex-Guantanamo Bay is helping to develop a game based on the prison camp. Bad news for Microsoft is that it’s being developed exclusively for the XBox 360 and Windows. (Kotaku)
