Wednesday Link-Off: Golden

I know in last week’s podcast, if you listened to the spoilers anyway, I mentioned that we would have the top games of 2015 and most anticipated games of 2016 lists posted last week. They’re coming tomorrow and Friday. The StarCraft II review that went up yesterday was the last piece I needed to cover everything for tomorrow’s best of 2015 list. StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void Single-Player Review: Homeward Bound

After five years, the story of StarCraft II comes to a conclusion in its second expansion. In the great tradition of the franchise that first launched in 1998, StarCraft II played out in three parts, each focusing on one of StarCraft’s three races. The third and final part of SC2, Legacy of the Void, not only focuses on the Protoss as they try to take back their homeworld but also includes an epilogue to wrap up the series’ story.

Mr. Plinkett’s Star Wars Prequel Reviews

During yesterday’s review podcast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I refer to the Mr. Plinkett reviews of the Star Wars prequels to explain what Abrams and company did right with Episode VII in comparison to George and company did with Episode I, II and III. Over the course of four hours, Red Letter Media’s Mr. Plinkett dissects what went wrong with the prequels and why the ended up being so disappointing. It sounds long but these make for incredibly easy viewing.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, you need to watch these. If you’re not a Star Wars fan, these will explain why your Star Wars loving friends hated the prequels.

Wednesday Link-Off: Executive Orders

Sometimes, I’m not sure how politicians actually accomplish anything. Then again, I’m also not sure that they actually want to accomplish anything. After countless mass shootings and no Congressional action, it was up to an executive order to start to make things right with American gun laws. If the politicians were really to do what’s best for the majority of Americans, wouldn’t they be sorting this out themselves? There I go being naive again.

Anyway, it’s Wednesday which means it’s time for us to do the links. Let’s kick off with Canadian actress Shay Mitchell.

PSX is the Perfect Example of a Games Industry Showcase

It was around this time two years ago that I suggested that the games industry needed a second showcase event apart from E3 every June. Following another edition of The Game Awards that was more interested in the new trailers and game reveals than it was in celebrating the best in gaming during the unspecified nomination period. I was planning on leaving this alone because I don’t see The Game Awards ever being an awards show but rather being a product of hype.

Last month, I changed my mind. While it wasn’t the first time they did this, I realized that Sony might have inadvertently stumbled upon exactly what I was looking for with their second PlayStation Experience convention and industry show.
