With three races to go in the 2011 Formula One World Championship, both championships have been clinched. For the second year running, Sebastian Vettel is the World Drivers’ Champion and Red Bull Racing is the World Constructors’ Champion. Now, attention has turned to the fight for second place in the WDC as Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber are separated by 13 points for the right to be called the first loser. After all, second place is the first loser. Continue reading

F1 Power Rankings: Korean Grand Prix
So the 2011 World Drivers’ Championship was settled this past weekend at Suzuka as Sebastian Vettel took 3rd place to clinch his second championship. Now the focus turns to who will win the final four races of the season and who will finish second in the championship chase. The first of those final four races is the second Grand Prix at the Korean International Circuit. Will it be advantage Alonso as he attempts to repeat his 2010 victory or will Button win back-to-back races to cement his hold on 2nd. Continue reading
F1 Power Rankings: Japanese Grand Prix
There are only five races to go in the 2011 Formula One World Championship. Sebastian Vettel leads the World Drivers’ Championship standings by 124 points over Jenson Button which means that he only needs to score one point over the final five races to win the title. McLaren says that they want to delay Vettel’s coronation for as long as possible. The only way to do that is to have Vettel taken out. Could we see McLaren sabotage or Hamilton used as a kamikaze driver (not that he needs the encouragement) for the final five races to help Button chase after the title? Continue reading
F1 Power Rankings: Singapore Grand Prix
We have six races left in the 2011 Formula One World Championship. Both the World Drivers’ Championship and the World Constructors’ Championship are all but wrapped up. With a maximum 125 points left to be earned by the drivers, Sebastian Vettel leads the WDC by 112 points. All Vettel has to this weekend is finish on the podium and he’ll clinch his second championship. Meanwhile, Red Bull leads the WCC by 116 points over McLaren. It’s a long way from clinched but it’ll be hard for Macca to close the gap. Continue reading
NFL Week 2 Power Rankings

The second weekend of NFL games brought what should have been a relatively easy gambling schedule but sadly, some teams *cough* Baltimore *cough* decided not to put forth their best effort. They will be appropriately docked in the Power Rankings.
Best game of the weekend was a toss up between Raiders @ Bills and Eagles @ Falcons. Personally, I really enjoyed the Bills comeback victory even though there was little to no defence in that game at all, particularly in the second half. The Bills scored a touchdown on every drive they had in the second half while giving back several to the Raiders. It was back and forth and the home team prevail. And that is exactly what happened in the Falcons game as well. I think the Eagles were the more impressive team but they really missed Vick in the fourth quarter. The Vick injury was among the flukiest injuries I have ever seen. He got hit lightly and while collapsing smoked his head into one of his offensive linemen. Bad break and hopefully he recovers quickly enough but this is eerily similar to how Kolb lost his job (kidding Kafka wasn’t bad but he’s no Vick either).
There were several impressive victories this weekend and with pardons to the Lions and Jets, the most impressive win of the weekend was New Orleans against Chicago. Most people would have predicted this win but the Saints really took apart the Bears and reaffirm my belief that they are among the elite in the league. Like I said earlier, the NFC South should be an exciting battle.
On to the Power Rankings!

F1 Power Rankings: Italian Grand Prix
The proverbial fat lady is warming up. After picking up his seventh win from 12 races, Sebastian Vettel extended his championship lead to 92 points. At 25 points for a win, that’s nearly a four-race lead with only seven races to go. With the championship all but sewn up, the focus turns to the battle for second place. Four drivers are within 21 points of second spot in the World Drivers’ Championship. Something tells me that race will be a bit more exciting than the battle for the championship. Continue reading
F1 Power Rankings: Belgian Grand Prix
After four weeks off, the 2011 Formula One World Championship is back in full-force for the stretch run. With eight races to go, Sebastian Vettel holds an 85 point lead over teammate Mark Webber. That’s equivalent to over three race wins meaning Vettel can sit out the next three Grands Prix and still hold a 10 point lead in the championship. It looks like back-to-back titles are in the cards for Vettel but McLaren still like their chances. Continue reading
F1 Power Rankings: Hungarian Grand Prix
It’s the second of back-to-back Grand Prix weekends followed by the annual summer break for the 2011 Formula One World Championship. There’s just one problem, though. This weekend’s race is the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring. Until the creation of the Valencia street circuit, this was unquestionably the most boring track to host a race at in Formula One. After last week’s lacklustre German Grand Prix, we could be in for a second straight snoozer of a race. Will championship leader Sebastian Vettel be able to stay awake for this race or will he finish outside the top two for the second straight Grand Prix? Continue reading
F1 Power Rankings: German Grand Prix
It’s time for the 2011 German Grand Prix. This year, it’s the Nurburgring’s turn to host the race after the Hockenheimring hosted last year’s edition. Naturally, there’s a lot of talk about this historic Nordschlife circuit that F1 originally raced on. For the first time, it seems as though no one is harbouring delusions of catching Sebastian Vettel. He has a three-race lead (80 points) with 10 races left. Can we hand him the title yet? Continue reading
F1 Power Rankings: British Grand Prix
We’re only 13 months from the 2012 Olympics. But nobody really cares right now because Formula One has come home for its most historic World Championship race at a disused airfield in Northamptonshire. In fact, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone was the first F1 World Championship race of the inaugural 1950 season. Speaking of history, that’s what Sebastian Vettel seems to be destined to make. He’s finished in the top two in each of the season’s eight races to go with seven poles and a three-race lead in the points. Continue reading
