I’ve said it before that one of the greatest evils to befall modern music is the increasing usage of autotune in songs. It is generally unbearably annoying and though often it does spare us the pain of someone who can’t sing in-tune. Then there’s tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. She just released a new single for charity called Oxygen but this will do more to lose charities fundraising opportunities than make them money. Continue reading
Wallpapers of the Week: April 29, 2012
I like changing up my desktop wallpaper on a regular basis. My wallpaper at work is even a slideshow so I have a new wallpaper every thirty minutes to change things up ever so slightly. So to help you change things up for your work week, I’ve scoured Flickr for five wallpapers that are worth adding to your collection for this week. Continue reading
Sunday Link-Off: Missing The Mark
Around here, we like to keep you apprised of the latest Canadian talent. The latest up-and-comer is Michea Crawford. And it’s pretty easy to see that she’s going to be in our 2013 Hottest Canadian bracket.
As a robot, Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper has trouble grasping such things as distasteful comments and facts. He accused the NDP of being pro-Hitler in 1939. That was a fabrication because the NDP didn’t exist until 1961. Anyway, the Canadian people weren’t willing to let him get away with such a ridiculous statement. (CBC News)
Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream is up for sale this week. It’s estimated auction value is over $80 million. (Wall Street Journal)
ESPN is so busy trying to seem like a proper bunch of journalists that they’re forgetting basic journalistic principles. A recent report suggests that ESPN has no actual evidence that the New Orleans Saints wiretapped other teams. (Awful Announcing)

Entertainment Link-Off: Worth the Wait
So I was away last week and Steve took over the Entertainment Link-Off once again in my absence. Anyway, I’m back with your weekly edition of the ELO. In theatres this weekend… well… there’s The Avengers! Oh wait, it’s not out in North America yet. Tough. In the meantime, I suppose you could go watch The Five Year Engagement featuring Emily Blunt.
After the jump a red band trailer for The Five Year Engagement, MTV Movie Awards getting a reboot, news on the development of Arrested Development, moviegoers like 3D, new look at Prometheus and a special interview with Jayesslee courtesy of comedian David So. Continue reading

The Best of Text From Dog
Dogs try to talk to us but they aren’t necessarily the best at articulating it in a way we can easily understand (unless you’re Lassie, who can easily indicate where Timmy got himself stuck again). But what if your dog could text you? It would probably be a little bit like our new favourite Tumblr Text From Dog. Continue reading
Gaming Has Its Benefits (Infographic)
I’m sure everyone’s parents and teachers said that video games would rot their minds. While I’m also sure that perception hasn’t changed and won’t any time soon, science is doing its damnedest to prove otherwise. Studies show that being a gamer makes you smarter and a better person than non-gamers. Continue reading
Wednesday Link-Off: It’s Not Unusual
It’s the middle of the week so we bring you the usual at this day and time. It’s another set of Wednesday links. Let’s start off with one of the new Victoria’s Secret models, Behati Prinsloo.

Not News of the Week
For the first time in over a year, it’s time for another edition of the weirdest and wackiest stories from around the world. It’s time for the not news of the week.
An Egyptian man watched his first ever porn film while at an internet cafe. He claims he did so out of curiosity. What he hadn’t counted on was that the star of his first porno would be his wife. It turns out that first video he clicked on starred his wife in a film she made with an ex-boyfriend while cheating on her husband. The wife also told her husband that she was the star of a total of 11 amateur porn films. I wonder what’s rougher: Seeing your wife as the star of the first porno you watch, finding out your wife cheated on you to make said porno or that she’s made 11 films while being married to you? Worst of Music: Double Take – Hot Problems
For some reason, people still think that they can be the next Justin Bieber. By that I mean that people keep putting videos of themselves singing on YouTube. More often than not, these people are bad but not offensively bad. However, there are those time where someone posts something that makes you wish you were deaf. And that brings us to today’s Worst of Music song. It’s a teenage duo going by the name of Double Take who are trying the Rebecca Black method of getting famous and cranking it up to 11 with their song Hot Problems. Continue reading
