Just because it’s Thanksgiving in America doesn’t mean that we don’t have this week’s Power Rankings. Today, all our American readers can be thankful for the NHL and our Power Rankings which has another team on top. When it came to picking the top team of heading into this week, I had two teams in mind but when one topped the other in a shootout, they clinched the top spot in the rankings for the first time this season. Formula One: Pirelli Tires Test
For the first time in 19 years, Pirelli tires took to the track on a Formula One race car. Just days after the final race of the season, most of the stars of F1 were back testing to get a head start on the 2011 season. Like it was toward the end of the season, Ferrari was the dominant car in this season as the Scuderia had the fastest car on each of the two days of the test. However, hot on their heels was World Champion Sebastian Vettel. Continue reading
2010 Uteck Bowl Wrapup
Unlike the NCAA, Canadian university football has a playoff to determine their national champion. Today was the semi-finals and our Western Mustangs took on the Laval Rouge et Or in Quebec City in a battle of the first and second ranked teams in the country. The winner of this game would advance to the Vanier Cup national championship game. So who took one more step to national supremacy and whose season ends early? Our live blog, analysis and expert analysis after the jump. Continue reading
CIS Morning Warmup: National Semi-Finals
In honour of this week’s Vanier Cup semi-final games, we’ve retired the OUA Morning Warmup and replaced it with the CIS Morning Warmup. The coverage is the same but the name has been changed to protect the writer from accusations of OUA bias. Today, we have a double-header of national semi-final games as we’ve reached the final four in Canadian university football. The OUA champion Western Mustangs will travel to Quebec City to battle the undefeated and national #1 Laval Rouge et Or in the Uteck Bowl. In the other game, the Calgary Dinos host the Saint Mary’s Huskies in a rematch of one of last year’s semis in the Mitchell Bowl. Continue reading

Formula One: Young Drivers Test Recap
With the Formula One World Championship settled for another season, the teams took a well-earned day off. And then they were back at it on the Tuesday after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for the Young Drivers Test. Not surprisingly, the team that seemed to have dominated the entire season dominated this test as well. However, we did get a glimpse at some of F1’s future stars as well. Continue reading
NHL Power Rankings: Week 7
Another week, another round of the Power Rankings as we head into the 7th week of the 2010-11 NHL season. I figured that I would have given up by now but people are actually reading this. Actually, if you Google NHL power rankings, we’re the 1st site to come up… Well, at least when I checked on Monday monring before anyone else came out with theirs for the week. It’s a stretch to say that we can be mentioned in the same breath as TSN, CBC, ESPN, Sportsnet and Yahoo but if we’re occasionally number one in Google’s NHL Power Rankings Power Rankings, I’ll take it. Mind you, on Tuesday we were on the second page so I can’t really gloat. Anyhow, we have a familiar face at the top of this week’s rankings. Continue reading
F1 Abu Dhabi GP: Passing The Torch
The final race of the season didn’t need a contrived playoff format to produce proper drama in the final round of the 2010 Formula One World Championship. With the World Constructors’ Championship all wrapped up, the Red Bull duo of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel looked to steal the championship from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. Vettel did all he could to win the title by speeding away from Alonso and Webber but it took a little bit of help for the German to win the World Drivers’ Championship. A bad strategy call dropped Alonso down the standings and it was Sebastian Vettel who won the 2010 Formula One World Championship. Continue reading
OUA Morning Warmup: 103rd Yates Cup
Eleven weeks of OUA football play has brought us to the championship game. This is the 103rd Yates Cup championship game. The Yates is among the oldest trophies in North American sports with the first Yates Cup being awarded in 1898 to the Toronto Varsity Blues. Today, Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa plays host to a game that could easily go down as a Yates Cup classic as the Ottawa Gee-Gees host the Western Mustangs. Continue reading
