Sunday Link-Off: Recount
So this week was a mildly interesting one in politics. I don’t think that anyone was actually expecting the election results to be challenged and certainly not by a third-party candidate. I doubt that anything will change but it plays into this ongoing concern over Russia’s influence in the election to support President-elect Trump.
Anyway, it’s Sunday which means that it’s time for us to do the links. Let’s kick things off with Kristen Bell.
The ethics lawyers for both President Bush and Obama say that the Electoral College should feel obligated to reject President-Elect Trump as his business interests leaves him in violation of the Constitution which forbids elected office holders from taking payments from foreign states. (Think Progress)
Speaking of which, Trump’s national security advisor has allegedly taken money from both Russia and Turkey. That wouldn’t be concerning at all. (The Independent)
Some writers have even less faith in a Trump presidency than most. (Foreign Policy)
Batman – Episode 3 Review: The Dark Knight Swerves
It took me writing five paragraphs of this review to figure it out but I have come to the conclusion that Telltale’s Batman – Episode 3: New World Order is an alternate universe version of The Dark Knight Rises. Instead of Bane, Penguin is the face opposing Batman / Bruce Wayne and there is even a Talia Al Ghul-esque mastermind behind the whole operation. This revelation doesn’t detract from this episode so much as it explains what Telltale was attempting to do with this episode.
F1 Power Rankings: Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
No matter how boring the race might be, all eyes will be on the two championship leaders. With a 12 point lead in the championship, all Nico Rosberg needs is a podium to win the championship. For Lewis, he needs more luck than skill to win the title. No one expects the Red Bulls to factor into the championship battle except Christian Horner but Lewis needs two Red Bulls between he and Nico to have a prayer.
So while the F1 Power Rankings take the grid for the final time this season, the Rankings won’t directly try to predict the outcome of the championship, just the race. But the Rankings’ favour the Championship leader.
Wednesday Link-Off: Conflict of Interest
The Trump Transition Team should be spelled with a $ given the number of issues that have been raised since November 8th. If you thought there were serious issues before the election, it doesn’t seem to be getting better since the vote.
Anyway, it’s Wendesday which means that we’re doing the links. Let’s kick things off with Chrissy Teigen whose AMA dress she was almost wearing certainly got some attention.
After spending an election campaign slamming Hilary and the Clinton Foundation, the Trump Foundation admitted to self-dealing in a filing that’s only come out after the election. (Washington Post)
And now top Trump aide Kellyanne Conway says that he doesn’t want Hilary to be prosecuted. (CNN)
Trump continued his adversarial relationship with the Fourth Estate by bringing top members of the press into Trump Tower to berate them. (New York Post)
The Evolution of Marvel Superhero Costumes (Infographic)
Last week, we asked if you could survive in the Marvel universe but how many superheroes and perspective superheroes are concerned about that? After all, most superheroes will sacrifice everything for the greater good and blahdy, blahdy, blah. What many superheroes, including but not limited to the likes of Iron Man/Tony Stark and The Doctor (yes, the one from the BBC TV series), are more concerned about is their look. So just how have various heroes changed their looks over the years? This handy infographic will give you a little guide.
Fails of the Week
Every so often, we take a look at the most epic fails from the week that was in the Fails of the Week. This week, we have five pictures, GIFs and videos that we think are the most epic fails of the week.
Sunday Link-Off: Faux News
So the election is over and life is somewhat moving on as people attempt to mount some sort of resistance to the President-elect. It sounds very Star Wars. Perhaps like Vietnam inspired George Lucas, who, apart from Oliver Stone, will be inspired by this election and presidency.
Anyway, it’s Sunday which means that we’re here to do the links. Let’s kick off with Isla Fisher.
There has been a lot of talk about fake news since the election but for a good reason. More people read fake news on Facebook than real news stories. (Vox)
Donald Trump said that he doesn’t settle lawsuits. He just settled the Trump University fraud lawsuit for $25 million. (The Daily Beast)
It might be time to start panicking but fracking is causing earthquakes in Canada. (New York Times)
Riptide GP: Renegade Review: Wet but not Wild
I’m used to reviewing racing games but most of them are on dry land. However, not all racing and racing games are on dry land. The Riptide series sees you race on futuristic jet-powered jet-skis. Typically, developer Vector Unit keeps its games on mobile platforms with the occasional console release. Riptide GP Renegade is the first in its flagship Riptide series to make its way to PC. So how does this mobile / console game fare on the PC? Well, it’s a bit of a mixed bag.
Would You Survive the Marvel Multiverse? (Infographic)
It seems like we’re hearing about more Marvel movies every other week and new Marvel movies feel like they’re coming out every other month. This month, it’s Doctor Strange which isn’t a high-profile Marvel property but they’ve managed to create a critical and commercial smash hit. So just how would you or I fare in the rather extensive Marvel universe. Well, there’s a handy flowchart infographic to help you find out.
