Entertainment Link-Off: Game On!

eugenie bouchard nike 1Thank goodness the weekend is here again! There are a few releases in cinemas this week as Michael Bay’s 13 Hours takes on the comedy Ride Along 2 in hopes of challenging for the crown at the box office. Seriously though, are they really gonna top Star Wars? Meanwhile in Australia, I’m gearing up for the Australian Open on Monday, so I’m gonna kick off the ELO with fellow Canadian, Eugenic Bouchard.

After the jump, Oscar nominations are out, Pacific Rim 2 ain’t dead because of China, surprise Cloverfield-related trailer, and enjoy a Carpool Karaoke session with Adele. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: In with the New

Olivia Munn Ride Along PremiereAnother week into the new year and hopefully your new year resolutions are still intact. If not, perhaps a video in this link-off will help you manage that! It’s a quiet weekend at the box office with only the release of The Forest. Perhaps it’s worth checking out those awards contenders that are slowly getting wider releases this month. Anyway, let’s kick this off with Olivia Munn at the premiere for Ride Along 2. Looks like it will be a good year ahead for her as she is also set to appear in Zoolander 2 and some superhero flick called X-Men: Apocalypse.

After the jump, don’t expect a Teen Titans show anytime soon, a few tidbits on Fuller House, there is a backstory to stormtrooper TR-8R, Michael Bay ain’t done with Transformers yet, Will Smith is a little sad about Independence Day 2, mark your calendars for Daredevil and Game of Thrones and finally, the best driving lesson courtesy of Conan, Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. emily bett rickards belloHappy 2016! The new year is here! Plenty of things to look forward to this year include a whole bunch of film sequels on its way! Let’s kick off the first ELO of the year with Emily Bett Rickards! I am definitely excited for the return of Arrow later this month!

Entertainment Link-Off: Happy Retail Therapy Day!

emma roberts allureIt’s the Christmas long weekend! By the time this post goes up, it should be boxing day already. Anyway, hope all the Lowdown readers are having a wonderful holiday season. Now let’s get to the links shall we? Kicking things off is Emma Robert’s latest shoot for Allure. Now suddenly I feel like watching Scream Queens since I missed out on the initial 13 episode run.

After the jump, Johnny Depp is severely overpaid, more Star Wars related news, less sexual violence for Game of Thrones, Jimmy Fallon is winning the late night battle and celebrate the 12 days of Deadpool with the brand new red-band trailer! Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Force is Here!

Daisy-Ridley-SWTFA-Euro-PremiereSteve and I will likely go into more detail in a possible upcoming podcast but I’ll share my quick thoughts on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Overall, it was a good flick. While it doesn’t quite match the highs of the original trilogy, it is still miles ahead of the prequels. At times it feels like a quasi-rehash of A New Hope but the new characters are compelling and I’m definitely excited to see where the new journey will lead to. Anyway, the notable star of the flick is Daisy Ridley as Rey, so let’s kick off the ELO with her at the European premiere of the film.

After the jump, quick look at the new Ghostbusters, more Star Wars tidbits, trailers for a lot of sequels next year and watch Spider-Man take on Darth Maul in a death battle. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Awakening

shay mitchellOh we’re just counting down the days as Star Wars is about to hit cinemas in a matter of days! There aren’t any big notable releases as everyone is trying to shy away from the box office juggernaut. Perhaps it’s a good time to catch up on all the TV shows! Anyway, let’s kick off the ELO with Shay Mitchell. Now I’m thinking I should start tuning into Pretty Little Liars…

After the jump, MadTV reunion is on its way, Lionsgate wants Hunger Games prequels, The Good Dinosaur isn’t so good for Pixar, movie trailers galore including X-Men: Apocalypse and imagine Downton Abbey with American accents. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off:

Bella-Thorne-Glamour-MexicoIn the Heart of the Sea is out in Australia after a very long delay but based on the mixed reviews, perhaps all that extra time didn’t benefit the final product after all. Anyway it’s the first weekend of December so Christmas is near! Oh better yet, the next installment of Star Wars is nearer! Let’s kick off the ELO with Bella Thorne’s latest photoshoot with Glamour and then we’ll proceed with the links.

After the jump, minor spoiler for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Adam McKay wanted to kill off Zoolander, the worst kept secret villain shows up in Batman v Superman, get ready for Alien vs. Predator in Mortal Kombat X, The Avengers reimagined as a rom-com and an epic drum battle between David Grohl and Animal. Entertainment Link-Off: The Awakening

Maite-Perroni-SohoIt’s Saturday night and if you got nothing better to do (like me), then just read along for this week’s fix of the Entertainment Link-Off. Actually on second thought, I’ll just head out to see Creed this weekend. Reviews are flowing in and they’re looking very good. Not too sure who to start the ELO with this week but then I came across Maite Perroni’s latest photoshoot that was Star Wars themed. I still remember the good ol’ days when she was with the pop band RBD.

After the jump, watch out for Friday Night Lights the musical, Neil Blomkamp’s Alien sequel could have been awesome, Ridley Scott just wants to pump out more Prometheus films, a possible undead character from Game of Thrones, a few new trailers to check out including Captain America: Civil War and listen to Pentatonix channel their inner Star Wars.  Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Pick Your Poison

krysten-ritter-jessica-jones-premiereThe final chapter of The Hunger Games is in cinemas this weekend in Australia! However, if you’re not in a rush to see it in cinemas, you can always camp at home because Marvel’s Jessica Jones has premiered on Netflix. It probably helps that this series stars Krysten Ritter and it’s also getting rave reviews!

After the jump, Peter Jackson reveals why The Hobbit failed, a big reason to go see the Baywatch reboot, a minor character spoiler for Game of Thrones season 6, Zoolander is back, and let’s contemplate on whether not watching Star Wars is a relationship dealbreaker. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off:

Amber-Heard-Marie-Claire-Dec2015Spectre is finally out in Australia but reviews haven’t been as flattering as the previous installment. That being said, it’s probably still worth checking out in cinemas. Anyway it’s Saturday once again, so it’s time for the ELO. Didn’t really know how to kick off this entry but then I came across Amber Heard’s latest shoot with Marie Claire, and it certainly caught my attention.

After the jump, Star Wars is not trying to garner any movie awards this season, watch Shia LaBoeuf watch Shia LaBoeuf, check out Bond’s kill count, a potential good pitch for the next Die Hard movie, apparently The Martian is a comedy and stop trying to make Jai Courtney happen! Continue reading
