Entertainment Link-Off: Black Friday Hangover

I’m sure everyone is exhausted from the endless shopping, so it’s time to just sit down, relax and check out this week’s Entertainment Link-Off. After a Twilight heavy link-off, let’s shift the focus to other stuff. This ELO features Anna Kendrick. She’ll be co-starring with George Clooney in the film Up in the Air. The critically acclaimed film directed by Jason Reitman is set to hit theatres next week. Hurray! We can simply forget that she was in that vampire movie that just came out.

After the jump, a few featurettes on Avatar, FOX announces its midseason schedule, some fun Star Wars stuff and more Lego awesomeness.

We know people love video games since it’s a nice form of escape. Apparently there’s is a man in Japan that loves his video games a little too much… (Telegraph)

I think it might be a bad idea to try the Happy Gilmore golf swing in Canada. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Here at Lowdown HQ we’re always going to support Canadian filmmaker James Cameron. He’s made some great films like Terminator and True Lies. Here’s a nice article where he discusses about Avatar. (The Toronto Star)

More behind the scenes stuff with Avatar. This time James Cameron is featured on 60 Minutes. (CBS)

If you have access to Hulu (damn you geo-blocking), check out the 10 minute feature on a flying sequence in Avatar. (Collider)

Since when did the MPAA start basing film ratings on smoking? (JoBlo)

Thanks to the midseason shakeup at FOX, they will be pinning Glee against another big show called Lost. However I see more love for Lost among the people. Smart move FOX. (Entertainment Weekly)

We might want to bash FOX all we want for the quasi-idiotic scheduling, but they probably won’t budge (for now) as they are projected to win the November Sweeps. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Looks like the Lost replacement FlashForward is more like a flash in a pan. (Entertainment Weekly)

What would happen if Deadpool meets the Smurfs? (My Confined Space)

Checking out the evolution of the Superhero movies. (Koldcast)

Smallville has been hit and miss for several seasons now, but the show is still going strong on Friday nights where the CW sent it to die. The first images of the upcoming Smallville movie (which is pretty much 2 episodes tacked together) has finally surfaced. (Collider)

As Steve would say, “I bought some Blu-Ray DVDs and I found this.” (Gizmodo)

Want to land a movie role? Just audition with a real life bear. (Slashfilm)

Here’s a list of movie screeners that have been sent out for Oscar consideration so far. I’m rooting for 500 Days of Summer! (Nikki Finke)

Anna Kendrick is also in the Edgar Wright’s upcoming film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. She briefly talks to Collider about the film. (Collider) I am so pumped for this movie! It can’t come out soon enough.

After being bombarded with Twilight related stuff, it’s time to take a look at another vampire movie. The second trailer for Daybreakers has been released. Yes, these few minutes alone look pretty good. There is hope for us all. (Latino Review)

Let’s take a look at some ‘biodiversity’ out there. I must say, certain things do have some resemblance to erm… Star Wars stuff. (NY Times)

If R2-D2 was a PC… (Abstruce Goose) Yeah it doesn’t end well.

Wanna be Chewbacca’s hairstylist? (My Confined Space)

The trailer for the next installment of Family Guy’s Star Wars saga is out. Prepare for Something, Something, Something Dark Side! If the entire thing is just as funny as the preview here, I am willing to forgive Seth MacFarlane for that trainwreck variety show he did not too long ago.

You can never go wrong when you recreate movies with Lego. Given the lackluster review for Ninja Assassin right now, perhaps the Lego version should have been screened in theatres. Anyway, check out the amazing Lego Matrix. Apparently it took 440 hours to make this. Just imagine how long it would take to recreate the entire damn movie!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt did his first SNL gig last week. During his opening monologue, he proceeded to recreate the song and dance number ‘Make ‘Em Laugh’ from Singing in the Rain. He did an amazing job. It’s too bad the rest of the show went downhill from there. Oh who cares! He nailed this performance!

And if you missed 500 Days of Summer, check out the amazing dance sequence below. This always brightens up my day.
