Football Night in Canada: Week 5 Wrapup

Week Five brings us past the one-quarter mark of the CFL season. Now we’re starting to see some separation between the contenders and the pretenders. Hamilton looks like they could make the playoffs while the BC Lions hope they are chumps as they look to march toward the playoffs. The Green Riders, the Eskies, and the Stamps are all tied a top the West Division and are trying to get a leg up. Football Night In Canada: Week 4 Wrapup

The fourth week of the 2009 CFL season brings us past the one-fifth mark of the 19 week regular season. This week was all about the dichotomy between the contenders and the pretenders. The surprisingly successful Hamilton Tiger-Cats would test how good they were against the undefeated Alouettes. Elsewhere, floundering teams would meet in Winnipeg as the Argos came to town. Calgary battled B.C. in a West Division Final rematch from last season while Edmonton and Saskatchewan trying to snap their (short) losing skids. Continue reading

Football Night In Canada: Kicking Off Week 2

The second week of the CFL season kicked off in Montreal at Molson Stadium on the campus of McGill University. While school may be out for the students, that didn’t mean that there wasn’t a massive crowd on hand. Like the games last week, yesterday was a playoff rematch of the East Division Final between the Als and the Edmonton Eskimos. Would the Als come out on top like the last time they met? Football Night In Canada: WPG at EDM

After a mixed bag of games on the CFL’s Canada Day Kickoff, we had a playoffs rematch again on Thursday night. The Eskimos beat out Toronto to get a cross-over playoff spot in the East. The sent them to Winnipeg where they squeezed out a win against the Blue Bombers. Could the Bombers return the favour in Edmonton or would the Eskimos be the first home team to win a game in 2009?
