emily van campWhile the folks over in North America will have to wait a bit longer, there are certain areas overseas that can catch Captain America: Civil War in cinemas already this weekend (and that includes Australia)! The flick is garnering good reviews and is on track to take the box office by storm. I managed to catch the screening earlier and let’s just say it lives up to the hype. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones franchise and Sunday was the start of Season Six of HBO’s Game of Thrones. This also marked the start of brand new material for the franchise. The five books were exhausted in the last season so this episode was the first look at A Song of Ice and Fire for everyone.

F1 Power Rankings: Russian Grand Prix

Moving up from its traditional (as traditional as something can get over two years) late season spot on the schedule, the fourth round of the Formula One World Championship in Russia. Lewis Hamilton has won both races at the Sochi Autodrom but hasn’t won this season. If there was ever a place to turn his season around, it would be here and now. Do I think he has a chance? This weekend’s Formula One Power Rankings hold the answer.

Wednesday Link-Off: Follow the Money

elizabeth-olsen-captainamerica16-02It’s nice when good links just fall into your lap. For example, it’s not everyday that a Presidential candidates supporters launch a social media war against the other candidate or that two major American magazines spotlight the Canadian Prime Minister or that there is thematically appropriate news on 4/20.

Anyway, it’s Wednesday which means that we have to do the links. Let’s kick off with Elizabeth Olsen who has parlayed success as an indie movie darling to blockbuster movie paydays.

Sunday Link-Off: The War of Five Kings

emilia-clarke-gameofthrones16-01bTrump, Clinton, Sanders, Kasich and Cruz. They’re all that’s really left in the US Presidential primary battle at this point. That number is going to dwindle down quite quickly though whether that is as bloody as the War of Five Kings in Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire is a matter of debate. But Game of Thrones is back tonight! Review coming later this week.

Anyway, it’s Sunday so that means it’s time for us to do the links. Let’s kick off this post with Emilia Clarke.

Entertainment Link-Off: White is the New Yellow

chloe bennett civil war premiereThe highly anticipated weekend for the Game of Thrones premiere is finally here. Rather than pondering over Jon Snow’s fate, let’s just take some time and go through this week’s ELO shall we? Let’s kick things off with red hot Agents of SHIELD star Chloe Bennett at the premiere of Captain America: Civil War. Sometimes I wish I had given Agents of SHIELD a chance, but for some reason I never got past one season of the show.

After the jump, addressing the issue of whitewashing Asian roles, adjusting the Marvel Cinematic Universe a little bit, that delayed Alien flick is still happening, and Arya Stark visits a local hobby shop. Continue reading
