Sure, Game of Thrones is at its best when it tells a story and focuses on its characters. However, the show also has this expectation that the ninth episode will wow us. This season’s ninth episode brings us the biggest and most expensive battle in the show’s history as the forces of Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton did battle for control of Winterfell and the North. And, yes, it was pretty epic.

I haven’t been paying that much attention the EU Membership Referendum over in Britain. I thought this would be similar to the Scottish independence referendum in that it was a pretty cut and dry case that the economic benefits of free access to the European economy would make “remain” the overwhelming choice. Polling before today’s vote suggest that it’s too close to call and will come down to undecided voters.
Since we occasionally talk about cars, let’s take a look at what the motor industry thinks about the potential exit from EU in this handy infographic.
Wednesday Link-Off: White Hat
Is a story really an insider story when it was extracted by less than kosher means? If the facts can’t be obtained any other way, maybe it’s for the greater good. Anonymous is pretty divisive but you have to admit their hactivism doesn’t make them villains. While the law doesn’t seem to take too kindly to White Hat Hackers, there’s definitely a need for them out there if they’re serving the public good.
Anyway, it’s Wednesday which means that we usually do the links. Let’s kick off with Emilia Clarke and Jenna Coleman.
Hackers got into Hilary Clinton’s campaign servers and the Democratic National Committee’s servers and went from there to hack info from all sorts of politically affiliated groups. (Bloomberg)
The real damage might be done by Guccifer 2.0 who found and posted all sorts of Clinton campaign docs. Maybe Bernie should stick around until the convention in case he’s needed. (Washington Examiner)

E3 2016: Resident Evil VII: Beginning Hour Impressions
Warner Bros wasn’t the only company to release a demo to the public at E3. Capcom also showed the first trailer for Resident Evil VII: Biohazard (apparently titles Biohazard VII: Resident Evil in Japan) and released a demo alongside it. While it’s not a huge demo, it’s definitely a promising start for the new Resident Evil.
E3 2016: Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Demo Impressions
Most people have to go all the way to Los Angeles to try slices of upcoming games at E3. Some companies, though, have made demos of their games available to the general public so you don’t have to be one of the permitted few that are allowed to see games up close before they reach your living room. One of those companies is Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment who gave us a short, early look at their upcoming Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Entertainment Link-Off: Frenemies
After a week off to spam E3 coverage (which isn’t done yet), the ELO is back. I’m in for Jackie who is on some sort of world tour. And by world tour, I mean he’s probably trying to drive through Australia to experience all four seasons in a week.
Anyway, Hollywood brings us two movies on what is an extraordinarily hot weekend in my part of Canada. You have your choice of Finding Dory and Central Intelligence. I’d imagine most everyone will go see Finding Dory because it’s a Pixar movie. I suppose that means that it’s another weekend where no one is going to see Warcraft. Well, there’s always Netflix.

E3 2016: PlayStation VR Coming in October for $399
If you’ve been paying attention to E3 this year, you know that everyone is talking about virtual reality. I remember people making a big deal of VR back in the early 90s when I was growing up and it’s taken 20+ years for people to make another go of it. Over the last few months, both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift have launched to the public. Now, it’s Sony’s turn. Their former Project Morpheus headset will launch as PlayStation VR on October 13th for $399.
Game of Thrones: No One Review
With next week being the generally epic and iconic Episode Nine of the season, this week’s episode was tasked with closing up some plots and setting up others for the season finale. E3 2016: Has The Industry Killed E3?
I don’t know about you but it seems like this year’s edition of E3 was generally underwhelming. It felt like we knew what was coming from the triple-A publishers before most of it ever appeared on stage at a press briefing. Sure, the videos were new content but the actual titles announced and demonstrated on-stage were almost all public knowledge before they were supposed to be public knowledge. The industry has been shifting to a continuous hype train for upcoming games and it’s made E3 needless as a result.
