Episode Tens are usually quiet episodes in Game of Thrones seasons. The big moments from the last couple of episodes are very neatly tied up with some new plot threads dangled to keep you interested in the next season. While those fresh threads were teased in this episode, a lot more than just quick little tie-ups happened this week. Yeah, I can see why the producers submitted this for a writing Emmy.

Entertainment Link-Off: Not 21 Anymore
I
t’s buddy cop comedy vs. dragons at the box office this weekend and BOTH are certified fresh. Can I suggest a movie marathon? Anyway, Amber Stevens can be seen in 22 Jump Street as Jonah Hill’s love interest, so let’s start off the ELO with her.
After the jump, an unexpected choice for Aquaman, Paddington can be creepy, George R.R. Martin demands longer Game of Thrones seasons, people are ditching the TV screens and Mean Girls gets the 8 bit treatment. Continue reading
Game of Thrones: The Watchers on the Wall Review
The ninth episode of each season of Game of Thrones has a bit of a reputation. After all, each of the three previous ninth episodes have been absolutely epic episodes. Seasons One and Three had game changing moments to end the episode. Season Two had a big budget epic. This season’s ninth episode is closer to the latter than the former which is probably appropriate given that the director of Blackwater came back for The Watchers on the Wall.
Entertainment Link-Off: All in the Stars
Over here in Aussieland, it’s the YA novel adaptation The Fault in Our Stars competing against the sci-fi film Edge of Tomorrow at the box office. It might be worth checking out both films, but I am leaning towards anything sci-fi related. It probably helps that Emily Blunt is heavily featured in Edge of Tomorrow.
After the jump, there might be a Gambit standalone film, MPAA doesn’t approve of Eva Green’s boob in the Sin City poster, 50 Cent gets witch or dies trying, a look at Mortal Kombat X and Mark Hamill channels his inner Joker and Luke Skywalker. Continue reading
Game of Thrones: The Mountain and The Viper Review
Entertainment Link-Off: A Twist In My Story
It’s Seth Macfarlane vs. Angelina Jolie at the box office this weekend. While both films are currently panned by critics, at least Jolie has the advantage in the fact that everyone seems to love her performance as Malificent. Anyway, Macfarlane’s flick, A Million Ways to Die in the West is loaded with star power and he got Charlize Theron to be his leading lady. So let’s start off the ELO with her.
After the jump, watch Harry Potter get friendzoned, the Jurassic World rumours are true, Seth Rogen channels his inner Pixar, apparently it is legal to wander around NYC topless, and Hollywood is teaching guys how to get the girl the wrong way. Continue reading
Entertainment Link-Off: Blast from the Past
Summer blockbusters are in full force. Just a week after the release of Godzilla, X-Men: Days of Future Past has made its way to the big screen to rave reviews. Despite some continuity issues, it is one of the best entries in the franchise. You can also catch Fan Bingbing as Blink in the film.
After the jump, some more X-Men related news, Edgar Wright is no longer working on his passion project, listen to Morgan Freeman on helium, Will Ferrell jams with RCHP, Jimmy Fallon does a nip-sync with Terry Crews and listen to the newest track from Ed Sheeran’s upcoming album. Continue reading
Game of Thrones: Mockingbird Review
Welcome to Game of Thrones: A show with so much plot that even the narrative-heavy, transitional episodes have all sorts of important things to talk about. Even if Tyrion didn’t move one step closer to life or death, even if nothing new happened at Castle Black, even if Arya is still only wandering through the wilderness with Sandor Clegane, enough is happening that would make you think that this little setup episode is still one of the best of the season.
Entertainment Link-Off: Going Nuclear
After a lengthy wait, it’s finally here! Godzilla is back on the big screen and yes it is way better than that 1998 travesty. Though I have to warn viewers, if you’re only in it for big fight/action sequences, you might be disappointed. Anyway, the cast for the movie is pretty solid and you can catch Elizabeth Olsen in part of that ensemble.
After the jump, news on other monster flicks, a look into the 2014 fall TV season, the decline of movie-going experiences, don’t blink or you’ll miss The Flash and catch the fan made trailer for Akira. Continue reading
Game of Thrones: The Laws of God and Men Review
The moment we’ve been waiting for since the Purple Wedding. Okay, given how trials tend to go for Tyrion and this show’s propensity for killing off lead characters, I don’t know if anyone was looking forward to how this turns out but I’d imagine we were looking forward to how it played out on-screen.
How it played out was absolutely amazingly with some Emmy-worthy performances… And with a shirtless Ramsay Snow taking care of business in the Dreadfort.
