Entertainment Link-Off: Blades of Glory

aubrey plazaIt looks like another big weekend for Marvel as Wolverine makes a triumphant return to the big screen in theatres. As counter-programming, you can also see Aubrey Plaza in the hilarious raunchy comedy The To-Do List.

After the jump, Marvel is outperforming DC at the movies, watch the impressive trailers for Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, Peter Jackson just wrapped up The Hobbit, make your attempt to get another Dredd movie, watch Daria come to life in a faux trailer and check out some nifty cosplay at Comic Con. Entertainment Link-Off: Prepare to Get Annihilated

marissa-miller-2013espy3It’s time for another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Lots of flicks hitting theatres this weekend. The folks in the UK get to see the final chapter of the Cornetto trilogy first while the rest of us will need to wait til August. Anyway, let’s start off this ELO with Marissa Miller, who can be seen in the film R.I.P.D.

After the jump, no paranormal activity in October, Ryan Reynolds might not be able to carry an entire movie after all, first look at Godzilla, some trailers from Comic-Con and watch Neil Patrick Harris debate with Joseph Gordon-Levitt about love. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Go Big or Go Extinct

rinko kikuchi pacific rimApparently it’s neck and neck at the box office this weekend with either big names or big robots drawing people into theatres. Seriously though, why would you pass up an opportunity to watch Pacific Rim where giant robots duke it with giant alien monsters to watch Adam Sandler in his critically panned Grown Ups 2? Plus, it features Rinko Kikuchi for your viewing pleasure as well!

After the jump, Sharknado is a social media hit… not so much on Syfy, some more Pacific Rim related links, Disney has another big dud on its hands, Summer Glau joins CW’s Arrow and find out what really happens during the Universal Studios opening sequence.  Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Sit Back and Relax

jordana brewster gqIt’s a slow week in entertainment as both North American countries celebrate their birthdays. Gotta love those long weekends or extra days off. In theatres this week are The Lone Ranger starring Johnny Depp while Armie Hammer acts as his sidekick. Oh wait… it should be the other way around right? On the hand there is Despicable Me 2 if you’re up for more random silliness from those cute little minions. I’ll just kick off this week’s ELO with Jordana Brewster’s latest GQ spread. Now I feel like watching those Fast and Furious films again.

After the jump, a few trailers to check out, Hollywood endings are dead, what if Shakespeare wrote Star Wars and watch a nice little rendition of The Cup Song.  Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: It All Goes Down

Jamie-Chung-Patriotic-BikiniIt’s battle of the buddy action movies this weekend. On one end, there’s Channing Tatum teaming up with Jamie Foxx for White House Down. On the other it’s Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in The Heat. Whatever you fancy, it will be one action packed screening at the cinemas! Once again, I’m not sure who to start off the ELO with, so here’s Jamie Chung getting into some American patriotic gear just ahead of Independence Day

After the jump, it might not be the end for This is the End, see what Peter Jackson has in store for the extended edition of The Hobbit, Marvel wants Vin Diesel, watch Sly and Ah-nold break out of a prison, World War Z deviates quite a bit from the source material, Max Landis didn’t like Man of Steel and the top 10 Backstreet Boys lyrics of all time  Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Monster Party!

Amber_Heard_MalibuMag_7Well if you’re heading out to the theatres this weekend, it sure ain’t for the eye candy. One of the big releases is the animated film Monsters University, which serves as a prequel to the 2001 film Monsters Inc. Then there’s the PG-13 zombie flick World War Z. Anyway, not sure who to kick off this ELO with, so here’s the always hot Amber Heard.

After the jump, Billy Crystal meets his worst nightmare, movie rumours for Jurassic Park 4 and Terminator 5, no Mary Jane in Spider-Man 2, check out a minion test reel and a music video that is meant to Channing all over your Tatum. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Sky is Falling

amy adams man of steelTwo big films to check out this weekend. First there’s the hilarious end of the world comedy This is the End featuring Seth Rogen and his pals. On the other end is Zack Snyder’s reboot of Superman in Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill. You can also catch Amy Adams in the film as Lois Lane.

After the jump, World War Z wants your money, trailers galore, some Game of Thrones stuff, Joss Whedon reveals his five favourite flicks, Olivia Munn’s boobs magically disappeared, the return of Dick Casablancas and The Lonely Island “Go Kindergarten”.  Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Learning Curve

amy adams elleI’m back! No shitty movie weekend to off-load to Steve, so I suppose it is appropriate that I take over the ELO once again. Sure there’s the awful looking film The Internship, which was hoping to relight that chemistry Vince Vaughan and Owen Wilson had from Wedding Crashers. On the other hand, perhaps you can catch Joss Whedon channel his inner Shakespeare with Much Ado About Nothing. That one is getting rave reviews all across the board. To kick off this ELO though, I’m going to jump ahead a little bit and start off with the leading lady from Man of Steel. Here’s the always lovely Amy Adams.

After the jump, Google can predict how much a movie is going to make, first look at a new character in The Hobbit, M. Night Shyamalan wrote a teen movie that we all didn’t hate, Dan Harmon hopes to marathon Community season 4 this weekend and let The Lonely Island and Alanis Morissette teach you something about semicolons (or not).  Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: All Roads Lead To This

gal gadotThis weekend at the theatres is a face-off between two big franchises. On one end is the return of the Wolfpack in The Hangover Part III. On the other is the actioner Fast and Furious 6. Funny enough, despite having six installments in the bag, the Fast and Furious gang still got some fuel in the tank while the Wolfpack is left behind sniffing the fumes. Anyway, kicking off this entry is one of the ladies from the FF flick, Gal Gadot.

After the jump, some Fast and Furious related news items, another look at The World’s End, Arrested Development relied heavily on the green screen, a Fresh Prince reunion and Superman delivers the ultimate ball busting move. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Into Darkness

alice eveThis weekend marks the release of Star Trek Into Darkness. Given that The Great Gatsby has not been able top Iron Man, perhaps Captain Kirk and crew can. Anyway, kicking off the latest ELO is a new addition to the Enterprise crew, Alice Eve.

After the jump, some Kickstarter related stuff, Avengers stuff, Modern Family gets a cable network makeover, a few movie trailers to see and JJ Abrams takes some suggestions for the next Star Wars movie. Continue reading
