Hello Saturday crew. Steve in for Jackie this week. I certainly lucked into a good week to cover the entertainment beat. Between a new Star Wars trailer, a new Batman v Superman trailer, news for both movies and Gwyneth Paltrow’s food stamp experiment, this was an entertaining week to be a fan of entertainment and pop culture. Oh, I almost forgot that Game of Thrones premiered this week. We might have reviewed this week’s episode.
Anyway, it’s time to cut the preamble and get down to business with this week’s Entertainment Link-Off. Since we have a few links about her in here, let’s kick this post off with Anna Kendrick.
Whether you think it’s a good thing or not, George Lucas has been kept out of the loop on The Force Awakens. (Variety)
Gwyneth Paltrow’s attempt to live on food stamps lasted four days before she was too hungry to continue. It’s a lovely lesson but the wrong messenger. (Washington Post)
The unexpected hit of the spring is Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battles. It’s amazing what a lot of star power will do. (Vulture)
Following the Jian Ghomeshi scandal, the CBC has rebranded Q as q. No, that’s not a typo. (The Globe and Mail)
Michelle MacLaren is no longer attached to WB/DC’s Wonder Woman movie. The creative differences card was pulled. I’m hoping MacLaren either said “I’ve directed and produced some of the greatest shows of all-time and you really think this is good? or told DC “recast Wonder Woman.” (Hollywood Reporter)
Furious 7 is officially the fastest movie to make $1 billion at the box office. Really? This movie? Are ticket prices that high now? (Coming Soon)
Pitch Perfect 2 isn’t out be they’re already planning Pitch Perfect 3. Why can’t we just leave well enough alone? (Entertainment Weekly)
Republican Senator Pat Roberts uses Frozen’s Let It Go as his ringtone. What other Disney songs should politicians use as ringtones? (Washington Post)
Have an insomnia problem? Spotify says that you should listen to Ed Sheeran. (Stereogum)
I did a which Doctor are you personality quiz and got The First Doctor. Who do you end up with? (Radio Times) It says “You may have a gruff exterior –and no-one is quite sure of your true motivations– but you have everyone’s best interests at heart.” See, Jackie. I’m actually a nice guy… Occasionally.
Friends think you’re too smart? Read about 24 hours in the life of Kim Kardashian and watch the brain cells melt away. (Harper’s Bazaar)

SUPERMAN TRAILER SUPERMAN TRAILER SUPER… Oh, who am I kidding? I’m less excited for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice after watching this than before and I wasn’t particularly excited to begin with.
