Entertainment Link-Off: Be A Nerd, Join the Herd

This weekend marks the return of one of the best shows on network TV right now. Chuck premieres tomorrow night with 2 back to back new episodes followed by another new episode in its regular timeslot on Monday at 8 pm on NBC (CityTV in Canada). To celebrate this special occasion, here’s Yvonne Strahovski.

This post also marks my last Entertainment Link-Off before going on a 2 month hiatus. I can only assume that Steve is taking over, so he’ll keep you company for a little while.

After the jump Jay Leno’s in trouble at NBC, some more Avatar links, my own list of top 10 films of 2009 and Michael Cera shows some ‘range’ in his acting.

Up in the Air is a fantastic film. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t had the chance to check it out yet. Anyway, Jason Reitman is clearly making his mark in the filmmaking world. All of his films are critical and commercial hits so far. Recently he created a video documenting the press tour for Up in the Air. This is another reason why Jason Reitman is a great filmmaker. I also like his music choice. (Slashfilm)

Jay Leno Show bombs and looks like Conan will be the one paying for it. (NY Times)

On second thought, NBC will be the one forking the bill. (LA Times)

Speaking of Jay Leno, he’s spending time bashing NBC on his show. (NBC)

Roeper (minus Ebert)’s top movie of the decade. (Chicago Sun Times) I don’t agree with him and I do find it rather disappointing that he picked a remake as the top film of the decade. No wonder I liked Ebert more… despite the fact he named Knowing as part of his top 10 this year.

The Na’vi are more similar to humans than we thought! Check out some amazing photoshop work to transform a regular human to a blue skinned alien. (Slashfilm) The first few comments for this entry are hilarious. Just thought I should point that out.

Avatar stole from Pochahontas while Harry Potter stole from Star Wars. (Slashfilm)

Time for a literary mash up. What would happen if Shakespeare wrote The Big Lebowski? (JoBlo)

The Dick family is after Google over the new Nexus 6 phone. (Wired) “People don’t get it,” Philip K. Dick’s daughter said. “It’s the principle of it.” And by principle, she means “pay me more money”.

Here’s an interesting bit for casting speculation. Will Smith for Captain America? (Collider)

Pixar values family… does that make them socially conservative? (Slashfilm)

Before taking a quick look back at 2009, let’s take a quick look at 2010.

First off, new images have surfaced for the MacGruber movie! (Empire)

Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World also has a few images up for grabs. (MTV) Is that Michael Cera with a flaming katana? I want one of those!

The latest Kick-Ass trailer really kicks ass. (Latino Review)

If you’re interested in how the Oscar noms work… check this out. (Collider) Does that mean that I have to do a top 10 list featuring 500 Days of Summer at #1 to give it a shot? Well while I’m at it, here’s my top 10 films of 2009.
1 ) 500 Days of Summer
2 ) Up in the Air
3 ) District 9
4 ) Up
5 ) Avatar
6 ) Star Trek
7 ) Adventureland
8 ) Adam
9 ) The Hangover
10 ) Zombieland
Agree/Disagree?

This year’s Oscar race feels awfully familiar. (The Toronto Star)

Here’s Yvonne again. Just for kicks.

In anticipation of the upcoming season of Chuck, let’s take a look at an interview with Adam Baldwin (aka Agent John Casey). There’s also a nice sneak peek into what to expect in the future episodes. (Chicago Tribune)

How do you want Chuck to stay alive? Just beat the living crap out of Heroes. (NY Times)

Apparently people still love Heroes… just not enough to pay for it. (NY Daily News)

Network TV is following the dodgeball motto. Aim low. (Broadcasting and Cable)

Perhaps Glee isn’t as good as it appears to be. Turns out that we were all distracted by the awesome music. (The TV Addict) Now that I think about it, there is some deeply flawed writing in there…

You hear that crushing sound? That’ll be the hearts of Supernatural fangirls shattering. (E! Online)

Don’t mess with Michael Cera, he can kill you with his mind.

Kevin Smith is getting ready to Hit Somebody as he talks to Mitch Albom about his upcoming hockey flick. In the video, the two men talk about hockey while wandering around Joe Louis Arena, home of Steve’s favourite team Detroit Red Wings. It’s a nice video to check out.
