Entertainment Link-Off: Don’t Fear the Reaper

jenny wade 1Sorry, I forgot to warn you guys that the Entertainment Link-Off was cancelled last week due to volunteer commitments. Yes, I do volunteer work. Steve likes to say that I’m a great humanitarian. Anyway, Entertainment Link-Off is back this week in full force. Headlining this article is Jenny Wade. You may recognize her as Honey Pie from the “Feast” movies or as the demon with a heart Nina on “Reaper”. She is also part of the cast of the only awesome CW pilot, “Body Politic”. I had lots of trouble finding pictures of her since she’s isn’t exactly well known around the net. You guys should definitely tune into “Reaper” if you want to check out how hot she is. This picture does not do any justice.

After the jump, more on the defunct CW, movie updates, the possible revival of Firefly and the preview for Body Politic (in case you missed it).

For all the Reaper fans out there, it seems like ABC Studios is still shipping the show around. It appears that they may want to double dip – first with affiliates, then some cable networks? (Nick C). For all those who still want to campaign for the show to return, the list of affiliates are here.

To fill the void during the summer because there is a lack of programming, let’s join in on the Chuck Me Mondays campaign. (ChuckTV)

Last night marked the final episode of The Tonight Show hosted by Jay Leno. For those who missed it, check out the recaps of the show! (Zap2it and EW). While it’s sad to see Jay leave The Tonight Show (and chances are, I won’t follow him to the primetime show this fall), I’ll be tuning in on Monday to see what Conan does with the show.

At the movies this weekend, Pixar’s latest Up is topping the box office. No surprise here. (Nikki Finke)

Terminator Salvation seems to be suffering a huge decline in ticket sales this week. Given the bad word of mouth and unusually strong competition out there, the movie has “dud” written all over it. In its defense, the movie does deviate from the traditional “good-terminator fighting bad-terminator in present times to protect John Connor” theme. It’s a bold move and it can certainly open up more storylines to have the film take place after judgment day. Too bad the execution was lackluster. (Screencrave)

Now that Terminator is considered a big disappointment, the McG vs. Michael Bay saga just got a bit more interesting. Looks like Michael Bay will get the last laugh now. In anticipation of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, a new clip will be revealed at tomorrow night’s MTV Movie Awards hosted by Andy Samberg. I normally look forward to this every year, but Sarah Silverman forever tainted the awards for me. Let’s hope Mr. Samberg does a better job this year. You know you can’t take this award show too seriously when Twilight is nominated for best picture, but who cares?! I want to see parodies and random kick-ass gags to appear throughout the show! (MTV)

In other Transformers related news, the stars of the movie talk about the Revenge of the Fallen game. (MTV)

But we all know video games with movie tie-ins always suck. (Toronto Star)

Transformers’ executive producer Steven Spielberg is working behind the scenes of the upcoming Tintin film. Now it looks like it finally claimed a release date! (Variety)

Summer blockbuster, G.I. Joe has released a new international poster. (ReelzChannel) Ok, it’s a nice looking poster, but the movie trailers are somewhat underwhelming. The only thing the film has pulling for it is the awesome cast involved. I’ll definitely check it out when it hits theatres this July. Plus, who doesn’t want to see Sienna Miller and Rachel Nichols ‘duke’ it out? That’s worth an admissions ticket already!

Onto some bizarre entertainment news. A woman in Barrie, Ontario claims that Keanu Reeves have fathered some, if not all of her four children. This is all fine and dandy, until it is revealed that her youngest kid is 20 years old and all four of them are in college already. Somebody wants an easy way out to pay off that tuition fee. (Toronto Star)

To compete with the iPod, Microsoft has revealed the Zune HD. (Olivia Munn) I would go out and Bing more information about this device, but it’ll likely crash my computer.

Ok, now let’s devote our attention back to television.

Thanks to the surprise renewal of FOX’s Dollhouse, there are rumblings of a possible revival of the Firefly! Now here’s the main question: is the network willing to pull off another Family Guy and bring the show back from the dead? (TV by the Numbers)

Speaking of bringing stuff back from the dead, the CW should definitely consider picking up Body Politic for midseason (or at least let another network get dibs on this potentially great show). I could ramble on about the idiocracy revolving around the network, but Nick C does a pretty good job here. At this rate, MyNetworkTV (aka the bastard child of UPN and WB) might end up overthrowing the C-dub in the very near future.

Let’s end off this link-off with a preview clip of CW’s Body Politic.

The chemistry of the cast looks fantastic. The cast is loaded with talent. The storyline does not involve a bunch of spoiled rich kids. Here’s the main thing though, THE SHOW HAS POTENTIAL! Korbi already saw the pilot and she digs what she sees. (Zap2it) Perhaps it’s time that the rest of the viewing audience gets a chance to check it out.

Nice site, I found it from Jenny Wade’s twitter. Thanks for posting the clip; you’re right, it looks like it has potential. Is there any chance at all?

Meanwhile, Reaper fans read the NickC link here. Seems that it will help if viewers email Spike TV and SciFi as well as your own CW Affiliate. We’ve got all the links and addresses at reaperdmv.com, too.

      Thanks! =)
While the preview clips look great, it seems like Dawn Ostroff isn’t giving this show a chance. She mentioned that there is one midseason slot for a scripted show, but she’s leaning towards the Gossip Girl spin-off instead. It definitely seems like Body Politic is as good as dead. It certainly doesn’t hurt to start a “Save Body Politic” campaign!

Keep up with the Save Reaper campaign. The affiliates are responding, that should be a good sign!

Er, what is this West Wing meets Gossip Girl. Those clips didn’t do much for this show. Body Politic looks positively awful. Sorry.

The show Gossip Girl is focused on a bunch of rich kids and it’s filled with over-the-top storylines. It can only be considered a guilty pleasure at best. Comparing a show like Body Politic to that is a bit harsh. Have you seen the cast list for the show? It’s not just a bunch of twentysomethings. However, you are entitled to your own opinions and I certainly don’t expect everyone to like the same thing.

The clips are certainly not enough, that’s why we should check out the full pilot, if it ever gets released.

The show resembles the first half of the film Definitely Maybe (it’s currently certified fresh at 72% on Rotten Tomatoes). If that movie could pull it off, I’m sure BP has the potential to do just as well.
