We knew coming into this weekend that the Hungaroring isn’t a circuit known for being passing friendly. Despite how interesting the Pirelli tyres have made this season, nothing could save the parade route known as the Hungaroring. 2012 Edmonton Indy Wrapup

Sunday marked the second of two trips that the IndyCar Series takes to Canada. After the Toronto Indy, the stars of IndyCar had their second of back-to-back Canadian races in Edmonton on the temporary circuit at the Edmonton City Centre Airport. Twenty-five cars and their drivers took to the track on one of the series’ fastest road courses and the year’s only race on an airport circuit. Continue reading

F1 German GP: Seeing Red

The McLarens showed up this weekend with some new updates which had them fastest in Friday’s opening practice. The Red Bulls had been showing strong pace and Fernando Alonso said that the RB8 was the fastest car since the Bahrain Grand Prix. However, a fast car can only get you so far. Sometimes, having the fastest driver is all you need. After disappointment in the final stretch of the British Grand Prix, Alonso fought off the pressure to pick up his third win of the season. F1 Power Rankings: German Grand Prix

We’re two races from Formula One’s annual summer break. This year’s German Grand Prix marks the return to the Hockenheimring after a year’s absence due to alternating the race with the Nurburgring. Heading into this weekend’s race, it looks like the season is going to come down to a battle between Ferrari and Red Bull. Formula One: 2012 Silverstone Young Drivers Test Recap

As a cost-saving measure, some teams had proposed holding the annual young drivers test at Silverstone after the British Grand Prix rather than holding in Abu Dhabi after the season ended. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Ken Block hooning about in a cloud of tire smoke in one of his famous Gymkhana videos. The YouTube legend took to the streets of San Francisco for his fifth Gymkhana video. 2012 Toronto Indy Wrapup

The top level of open-wheel racing in North America went to Toronto for the 26th time this weekend. This weekend was a complete change from the previous IndyCar races around Exhibition Place in Toronto. The car was new, the engines were new and the crew in race control were new. Twenty-five cars raced around the streets of Toronto for the first of two Canadian stops on the IndyCar calendar led by Canadian drivers James Hinchcliffe and Alex Tagliani. Continue reading
