Entertainment Link-Off:

Bella-Thorne-Glamour-MexicoIn the Heart of the Sea is out in Australia after a very long delay but based on the mixed reviews, perhaps all that extra time didn’t benefit the final product after all. Anyway it’s the first weekend of December so Christmas is near! Oh better yet, the next installment of Star Wars is nearer! Let’s kick off the ELO with Bella Thorne’s latest photoshoot with Glamour and then we’ll proceed with the links.

After the jump, minor spoiler for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Adam McKay wanted to kill off Zoolander, the worst kept secret villain shows up in Batman v Superman, get ready for Alien vs. Predator in Mortal Kombat X, The Avengers reimagined as a rom-com and an epic drum battle between David Grohl and Animal. Doctor Who: Heaven Sent Review

doctor-who-heaven-sent-headerSometimes, it doesn’t take new blood to do something different. For the penultimate episode of Doctor Who, The Doctor was locked in a castle with one villain who was seldom on-screen. It was a completely different approach for an episode of Doctor Who but it works because of it.

Entertainment Link-Off: The Awakening

Maite-Perroni-SohoIt’s Saturday night and if you got nothing better to do (like me), then just read along for this week’s fix of the Entertainment Link-Off. Actually on second thought, I’ll just head out to see Creed this weekend. Reviews are flowing in and they’re looking very good. Not too sure who to start the ELO with this week but then I came across Maite Perroni’s latest photoshoot that was Star Wars themed. I still remember the good ol’ days when she was with the pop band RBD.

After the jump, watch out for Friday Night Lights the musical, Neil Blomkamp’s Alien sequel could have been awesome, Ridley Scott just wants to pump out more Prometheus films, a possible undead character from Game of Thrones, a few new trailers to check out including Captain America: Civil War and listen to Pentatonix channel their inner Star Wars.  Continue reading

Doctor Who: Face the Raven Review

doctor-who-face-the-raven-headerWhat happens when the inevitable happens when you least expect it? I think that was what Steven Moffat was going for in putting together this season. He mixed that in with another of his favourite tropes this week when The Doctor’s past actions came back on him in a way he didn’t expect. This week’s episode was a memorable one but I’m not sure that I’d call it any good until the final ten minutes.

The Dollars and Cents of Star Wars (Infographic)

Last week, someone pointed out to me that we’re under a month to the premiere of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Putting the biggest movie franchise in the world in the hands of one of the hottest sci-fi directors who happens to be a noted Star Wars fan has The Force Awakens expected to be one of the biggest movies of all-time. Analysts are expecting Episode VII to top a $1 billion gross, a half-billion dollar opening weekend and maybe even beat $2 billion at the box office.

For more on the money made by Star Wars and the money spent to make that money, we have a handy infographic for your perusal.

Entertainment Link-Off: Pick Your Poison

krysten-ritter-jessica-jones-premiereThe final chapter of The Hunger Games is in cinemas this weekend in Australia! However, if you’re not in a rush to see it in cinemas, you can always camp at home because Marvel’s Jessica Jones has premiered on Netflix. It probably helps that this series stars Krysten Ritter and it’s also getting rave reviews!

After the jump, Peter Jackson reveals why The Hobbit failed, a big reason to go see the Baywatch reboot, a minor character spoiler for Game of Thrones season 6, Zoolander is back, and let’s contemplate on whether not watching Star Wars is a relationship dealbreaker. Continue reading

Doctor Who: Sleep No More Review

doctor-who-sleep-no-more-headerIf there’s one favourite trick of the Moffat era of Doctor Who, it’s making you afraid of the seemingly ordinary. We’ve seen homicidal statues that move when no one’s looking, carnivorous shadows and being alone in the dark. This week, regular writer and Moffat partner in crime Mark Gatiss has a go at making you scared of the seemingly ordinary. This week’s episode tries to make you scared to sleep.

Entertainment Link-Off:

Amber-Heard-Marie-Claire-Dec2015Spectre is finally out in Australia but reviews haven’t been as flattering as the previous installment. That being said, it’s probably still worth checking out in cinemas. Anyway it’s Saturday once again, so it’s time for the ELO. Didn’t really know how to kick off this entry but then I came across Amber Heard’s latest shoot with Marie Claire, and it certainly caught my attention.

After the jump, Star Wars is not trying to garner any movie awards this season, watch Shia LaBoeuf watch Shia LaBoeuf, check out Bond’s kill count, a potential good pitch for the next Die Hard movie, apparently The Martian is a comedy and stop trying to make Jai Courtney happen! Continue reading

Doctor Who: The Zygon Inversion Review

doctor-who-the-zygon-inversion-headerFor the fourth time this season, we have a two-part episode. While I was disappointed with the last two multi-episode stories, this one is a return to form. When you stretch a story over multiple episodes, there has to be enough content to fill those episodes. While The Zygon Inversion was a bit light compared to The Zygon Invasion, it certainly made the whole hour-and-a-half feel like it was worth watching.

The Watches of Bond (Infographic)

When you think of James Bond, 007, Royal Navy Commander, Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Licence to Kill, you usually think of the cars or the suits or the beverages or the women or the gadgets from Q branch. You don’t think about what Bond wore on his wrist. However, Bond’s watches said just as much about him as his cars and toys.

To learn a but more about Britain’s most famous secret agent, we have a handy infographic for you perusal.
