There was a surprise in this week’s Billboard Hot 100. The #9 song wasn’t a hip-hop or dance track. It was actually a country song. But this isn’t just a regular country song. It’s the nearly impossible to comprehend hybrid of twangy southern country and rap. I never thought it would happen but it has and it definitely shouldn’t have. This week’s WoM winning offender is Jason Aldean with Dirt Road Anthem.

Normally I’m able to very specifically describe why a song is the worst one in the world in a given. This one is difficult because it just’s bad from being a country song to adding in that bit of southern fried rap. And the worst part is that he raps about the sort of stereotypical southern hick type of stuff too. Aldean has a chance to chance the face of country with this song and it’s a colossal missed opportunity.

So congrats, Jason. You’ve won the prestigious Worst of Music award for this week.
