We’ve got a first-time WoM winner taking home the prize of this week’s Worst of Music. For the last few months, I keep hearing about this Nicki Minaj character and how she’s a good hip-hop artist and a looker to boot. This week, I discovered that both those statements are dangerous overstatements. As proof, I submit her WoM winning song Super Bass.

I’ll start with the looks crack first. Nicki isn’t unattractive but you can’t find everyone gorgeous. I just don’t see what’s so amazing about her. I’m sure I’ll get the usual indignant yet largely unhelpful comments telling why I’m wrong for saying that. The title of the song is Super Bass because Minaj likens her heartbeat upon meeting a guy to a bass beat. She then proceeds to spend the majority of the song describing the sound of a bass beat to us as “boom badoom.” And is it just me or is her voice a bit annoying?

So congrats, Nicki. You’ve won the prestigious Worst of Music award for this week.
