A moment of confusion quickly gave way to the biggest moment in a young player’s career. Patrick “20 Cent” Kane danced out from the corner and slid the puck under Michael Leighton but no one realized it except for him. The party was on hold for a moment as the play was briefly reviewed but in the end it was the Chicago Blackhawks lifting the Stanley Cup for the first time in 49 years.

Chicago 4 @ Philadelphia 3 (OT) – This was a very back and forth game. Dustin Byfuglien scored the first goal of the game while Chris Pronger was in the box. Late in the first, Scott Hartnell answered on the man advantage. Near the midpoint of the second, Danny Briere and Patrick Sharp traded goals to make it 2-2. Late in the frame, Chicago took the load back on an Andrew Ladd tip-in. The Flyers controlled most of the third but it wasn’t until Hartnell put home his second goal of the game with four minutes to go that it looked like Philly could send it to seven. In overtime, the Flyers opened up with a flurry of chances but it was Patrick Kane who scored the game winners only four minutes into the extra frame. In a sort of irony, Kane’s goal bore a passing resemblance to the gold medal winning goal scored by Sidney Crosby against Kane’s American squad in Vancouver.
