It’s time for another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. This weekend marks the release of Date Night starring Tina Fey and Steve Carrell. The newly single Leighton Meester also has a role as the babysitter for the main characters’ kids in the movie, so it might be worth checking out.
After the jump a Modern Family dilemma, Tron sequel talks, more discussion about 3D movies, an amazing short film by Carl Erik Rinsch and Megan Fox makes a hot teacher.
The is a bit of a dilemma when it comes to Modern Family. With such an amazing ensemble cast, no one has a clue who the actual lead in the show is! So what would happen during those Emmy submissions? (Entertainment Weekly)
Speaking of Modern Family, let’s take a look back at the awesome quotes from the show! (Zap2it) If you’re not watching this show, go check it out! There’s plenty of awesome one-liners in there.
Modern Family tends to remind me of Arrested Development, another comedy that I loved back in the day. There were news of an Arrested Development movie floating around, but apparently that’s been squashed again. This time David Cross reveals that the movie will not happen. (TV Squad)
Another movie that I’m convinced that won’t hit the big screen is the Veronica Mars feature film. However, creator Rob Thomas still thinks it can happen. (Entertainment Weekly)
I may have liked One Tree Hill back in the day, but I lost interest in the show somewhere in the middle of season 6. To be honest, the show is already has 2 seasons more than what it really deserves. The TV Addict writes an open letter to OTH fans to tell them to give it up already. He’s got a point. I saw a few episodes of the latest season and I didn’t like it at all. (The TV Addict)
Check out what Zachary Levi has to say about saving Chuck at Wondercon 2010. (IGN)
Here is something that will warm Steve Murray’s heart. Shania Twain will have a reality show on Oprah’s network. (Entertainment Weekly)
Desperate for some summer programming once the current TV season is done? How about The Good Guys on FOX? It looks interesting and I’m always up for some buddy cop action. Oh CW’s Reaper alum Jenny Wade is in it! Definitely worth a look when the show premieres! (The TV Addict)
Conan O’Brien may not have a TV outlet right now, so he’s taking over the internet. (NY Times)
South Park combines Facebook and Tron into one world. Awesome. (Collider)
Speaking of Tron, Disney already has plans for a sequel to Tron Legacy. The early green light isn’t bad given that it’ll mean that the third Tron feature will hit the screens earlier! (MTV)
I’m sure the 3D effects in Tron Legacy will be amazing! Too bad there are plenty of films out there that use bad 3D effects *ahem Clash of the Titans*. While Hollywood will continue to pump out endless 3D films to make money off of us, it is really at a crossroad right now. Making films 3D for the sake of making them 3D is a bad practice. Looks like Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg agrees! (Variety)
Thought Clash of the Titans was crap? Well turns out a better version would have hit the screens if certain behind the scenes meddling didn’t happen. (CHUD)
I love Kevin Smith, but I must say Cop Out was a bust. I like buddy cop movies, but it just didn’t work. On the other hand, the trailer for Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell’s The Other Guys looks promising! (LA Times)
I already got a chance to see Kick-Ass and I have to say it is a fantastic film. I haven’t had this much fun in the theatres in a while. Anyway, an interview with Chloe Moretz revealed a certain deleted scene that would have been a nice fit to the film. (io9) Ah Nicholas Cage, after your take on Big Daddy, I forgive you for the craptacular features that you’ve been a part of over the past few years.
Just the brief mention of Scott Pilgrim in the Kick-Ass movie got me thinking of Edgar Wright’s film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The film version will deviate from the comic books and comicbook writer Bryan O’Malley tries to manage fan expectations. If the fans are worried, fear not, O’Malley was quite active in the filmmaking process. (Variety)
First set images from the prequel to The Thing! It’s nothing exciting, but at least it looks like it’ll stay true to the original film. (Slashfilm)
Joel Edgarton took some time to chat about the prequel to The Thing while filming on set in Toronto. (Shock Til You Drop)
Peter Berg just loves using his Friday Night Lights alum in his features. Well looks like Taylor Kitsch is going to be a part of Battleship! (Heat Vision Blog) I don’t know about you, but I’m still a little peeved with the idea that aliens are involved in the movie.
Bizarre news of the day: Hugh Jackman will have testicles under his chin. (Latino Review)
Philips has just released Carl Erik Rinsch’s futuristic action thriller short film The Gift, which is about a robotic manservant who flees the police. He was originally tapped to direct the new Alien film until FOX pushed for Ridley Scott. Judging from this short film, I think he’s got the skills to do great movies in the near future.
This video looks fun. It’s pixels attacking New York!!! If you want to see Tetris stacking up on buildings or Pac Man eating up the subway, this is for you.
For fans of Team Fortress, here’s an awesome video that combines the characters from the popular video game with the film Law Abiding Citizen.
Imagine Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog as a Nintendo video game!
Megan Fox sticks it to the Governator and flexes her political activist muscles in this video. Sure it had its moments, but many of the jokes fell flat. Anyway, for all the guys out there, don’t you wish you had someone like Megan Fox for a teacher?
