Only one game on the NHL schedule last night as the Pittsburgh Penguins looked to even their series against the Washington Capitals.
Pittsburgh 3 @ Washington 4 – This is Alex Ovechkin’s world, we’re just living in it. Alexander the Great scored his first career playoff hat trick leading the Capitals to a two game lead in the series. However, Sidney Crosby wasn’t one to be outdone. Sid the Kid put up a hat trick of his own but he was the only offense that the Pens could muster. It wasn’t until seven minutes to go that the Caps got their first lead. They were trailing Pittsburgh all game and playing catch up. Both goalies had good nights with Marc-Andre Fleury making 29 save but being outclassed by Simeon Varlamov who made 33 saves. The other Washington goal was scored by David Steckel, though for the sake of complete disclosure, it was Washington’s second of the game.
