Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Close But Not Quite

Round two kicked off with only one game.  Chicago visited Vancouver for game one of their Western Conference semi-final.

Chicago 3 @ Vancouver 5 –The Canucks can consider themselves lucky after this one. They led 3-0 heading into the third before giving up three unanswered. It was a Sami Salo goal with 73 seconds remaining to give the Canucks a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. The Blackhawks come back was led by Patrick Kane who notched two goals with the third goal scored by David Bolland. Steve Bernier and Kyle Wellwood were the only two point men for Vancouver, each getting two assists. The goalies weren’t playing up to their typical standards with Khabibulin making only 22 saves while Luongo made 27. The game started out as though Vancouver would blow out the Hawks. Part of the problem was the Vancouver sat back a bit and let Chicago back into the game. The other thing is that Chicago woke up and started using their speed and got back into this game. While Vancouver fans will say one thing, I think the third period is more indicative of what will happen in this series. Chicago can and will score in spurts. Luongo is going to have to be solid and the offense will have to capitalize on every opportunity for Vancouver to win this series.
Vancouver leads the series 1-0
