There comes a point in some artists’ careers when their style outweighs their substance but the substance is enough to make them chart toppers. Take my campaign earlier this year against the Black Eyed Peas who haven’t put out a good song since 2006. This week’s Worst of Music winning artist really hasn’t put out what I’d call a good song since 2008. Edge of Glory was okay but that was definitely only written to sell to sports networks for video packages. I guess that just gave away this week’s WoM winner. It’s Lady Gaga’s new single You And I. Worst of Music: Lady Gaga – Telephone
When I put out the call for recommendations for the Worst of Music award, I knew I was going to get some good ones… or bad ones. For example, last week, I got a passionate recommendation for this week’s WoM so I had to run with it. Lady Gaga’s Telephone had come and gone from the Billboard Hot 100 charts a while back but the WoM has no statute of limitations.
