Entertainment Link-Off: Everything is Connected

In theatres this weekend, there’s the possibly incomprehensible visual show Cloud Atlas. There’s also the sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. None of the two films feature anything noteworthy, so let’s just kick off the ELO with Amber Heard.

After the jump, some Die Hard for you, Iron Man hits rock bottom, some Bond related news, the return of Evil Dead and check out an honest trailer for Paranormal Activity. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Cross the Line

If you’re looking forward to seeing a new movie this weekend, you might want to skip the line and watch something older. This weekend’s two big releases, Alex Cross and Paranormal Activity 4, have a combined Tomatometer score of 41%. That’s adding them gets them to 41% for an average score of 20.5%. Rather than promote those train wrecks, here’s Alison Brie who is in Community which is our favourite sitcome at Lowdown HQ.

After the jump, some Bond, James Bond movie info, the latest on Transformers 4, and some news about the delayed premiere of season four of Community. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Here We Go Again

Steve can breathe a sigh of relief since I’m back this weekend for another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Out this weekend is the sequel Taken 2. Now apparently this film has lost all the buzz and fun from the first film and is nothing but an empty shell of an action film; however it does have Maggie Grace in it. So for eye candy purposes, it might still be worth checking out.

After the jump, another hot actress joins the cast of a female version of The Expendables, some new movie trailers to see, an awesome Iron Man inspired Tron Lightcycle, Looper explained, Adele belts out the new Bond theme and check out some hipster Disney princesses. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: I Am the Law!

After a few dull weekends at the theatres, there are finally a few interesting things to check out. The noteworthy release is the latest attempt at adapting Judge Dredd. The film Dredd stars Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby. The latter should be a good enough reason for you to check out the film in theatres anyway.

After the jump, no 28 Months Later anytime soon, some Chinese Na’vi are on their way, Gangnam Style is spreading all over the world and check out some new clips from The Hobbit. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Evil Dead

This weekend marks the return of the undead franchise Resident Evil. The films were fun shoot-em-up flicks at best and never really added anything new to the movie world. Anyway, let’s kick off this week’s ELO with a new addition to the cast, Li Bingbing.

After the jump, James Cameron talks Titanic, Prometheus and Jurassic Park, ninjas take out rude moviegoers in London, Barney Stinson sums up How I Met Your Mother in 60 seconds and Gangnam Style continues to spread through the States. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: … with a Vengeance

It’s the dog days of summer. It’s all coming to an end and all the big summer blockbusters have been released already. Don’t expect any of the new releases to make a big splash at the box office, but perhaps out of the batch this weekend, Lawless looks a bit more promising. It certainly helps to have Jessica Chastain as part of the cast.

After the jump, John McClane can’t save the day because he’s upset over a breakup, a few tidbits on The Avengers, watch Jackie Chan kick ass in a roller blade suit and finally old school video games take on the new ones. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Ride Like Hell

Got two chase movies out this weekend. There’s Kristen Bell teaming up with her partner Dax Shepard in Hit and Run. In the other corner, there’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt trying to outrun some bad guys on his bike in Premium Rush. The latter looks a bit better and it certainly helps that Jamie Chung is in the movie as well.

After the jump, no more Expendables for Chuck Norris, what if Tim Burton designed some Pokemons, Jimmy Kimmel is the new late night TV king and watch David So parody Psy’s Gangnum Style. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Back for War

The old action stars are back this weekend for another installment of The Expendables. With a movie so filled with testosterone, it would be appropriate to plug in a female actress. So let’s kick it off with the only female Expendable Yu Nan.

After the jump, a few action movie trailers to check out, Shia LaBeouf claims one of his next films will feature real sex, JJ Abrams doesn’t believe in big budget films, David Cronenberg hates comic book movies, Joss Whedon starts an online ‘feud’ and new music video from AJ Rafael. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Recycle, Reuse, Reduce!

It’s Total Recall weekend. Yes, the highly anticipated remake of the 1990 sci-fi flick. Well this time around, instead of Ah-nold, there’s Colin Farrell. That’s not really the big news, the big thing about the movie is the eye candy, so let’s kick off this ELO with the leading ladies from the film Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel.

After the jump, James Bond is back in action, The Hobbit takes another unexpected journey, a few tidbits regarding How I Met Your Mother and watch Bill Nye teach you how to tie a bow tie. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Miami Heat

Alight, so the dog days of summer movies has already started. This weekend, catch the vulgar alien invasion movie The Watch starring Ben Stiller and friends or perhaps you can check out another installment of the Step Up franchise starring Kathryn McCormick. I think I already made up my mind to see the latter.

After the jump, revisiting some of the stuff from The Dark Knight Rises, The CW tries to rebrand itself, a few movie trailers to check out and an awesome fanmade short for Y: The Last Man. Continue reading
