Wednesday Link-Off: Election Blues

lights-junos15-01I’m a little disappointed I don’t have enough time in the morning to prep the links at the last minute. I’d love to have some links about the Israeli election included in the post but that was still a dead heat last I heard. I suppose that’s what I have the Sunday links for.

Anyway, if it’s Wednesday, it’s time for the links. Let’s kick things off with Lights.

This time of year brings up plenty of questions about why college “student-athletes” don’t get paid but they aren’t the only cogs in a multi-million dollar machine going unpaid. Canada is going through the same thing in junior hockey. (Vice Sports)

Howard Stern’s contract with SiriusXM expires at the end of this year and he’s none too happy with his bosses. Could the man who made Sirius also break it? (Bloomberg)

Some artists love Spotify, some hate it. You’re more likely to be in the latter camp if you’re a small artist based on how they hand out royalties. (The Kernel)

Another article about the dangers of social media, anonymity and the like. (Time)

The Egyption government getting close to starting work on a new $45-billion capital city in the desert. The question most are asking is “why?” (National Post)

With the NCAA March Madness tournament ever-expanding, what would a bracket look like that included everyone in Division I basketball? (Lost Lettermen)

Like many professional sports, the WWE is caught up in legal action over whether it let its performers compete in an unsafe work environment. The Fed’s lawyer calls the lawsuits frivolous. I’m sure the NFL’s lawyers said the same thing at first. (Boston Herald)

Irish discount airline Ryanair is looking into discount trans-Atlantic flights for £10. (Luxemburger Wort)

Pornstar Sovereign Syre talks about the troubles of dating given her profession. (XOJane)
