After sparking just a tiny bit of angry discussion with the last edition of the WoM, I think this one will go over just a bit easier. Unless you aren’t deaf. In that case, you’ll curse me until the day you die. That’s because we have the matriarch of the Kardashian/Jenner clan singing her previously completely forgotten song I Love My Friends.
If Twitter existed in the 80s, this would have been the equivalent to Rebecca Black’s Friday. What we have is a poor singer with a music video that’s so bad that it’s hilarious. At least we don’t have to put up with autotune with this song. If the hilarity of all the cameos reassuring you that Kris Kardashian (as she was known at that time) actually does love her friends wasn’t funny enough, you will laugh at the irony that all Kris Jenner (her current name) seems to care about now seems to be fame and fortune. After all, as Kim’s manager, she managed to rake in an estimated $18 million for Kim’s wedding. That and there’s the allegation that Kris brokered the sale of Kim’s sex tape (and ordered a re-shoot of it) which launched the Kardashian clan to fame. And poor Randy Newman. This song was so bad that I’m not sure it was worth any royalties he earned for the use of his music.
In case you were wondering, Kris Jenner turned 30 in 1985. You can also tell it’s from 1985 because OJ Simpson is in the video and not being accused of committing a felony. In case you were wondering why OJ is in the video, Kris’ then husband was Robert Kardashian who was one of OJ’s friends and on OJ’s legal team during his 1995 murder trial.
So congrats, Kris. You’ve won the prestigious Worst of Music award for this week.
