Entertainment Link-Off: Be Kind Rewind

It’s time for another Saturday edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Not many releases this weekend given that all the attention is poured onto The Amazing Spider-Man (which opened earlier this week). Opening this weekend is the Oliver Stone flick Savages starring Taylor Kitsch (in his third attempt to star in a film that is not a flop this year). You can also catch Blake Lively in the film, so let’s start off this entry with her.

After the jump, apparently The Notebook can ruin love as well, lots of things ended up on the cutting room floor for The Amazing Spider-Man, trouble with a screening for The Dark Knight Rises, the secrets behind this summer’s blockbusters revealed, Michael Bay channels his inner David Fincher and finally a video that can help us understand what Shakira is singing in her songs.

The Notebook tends to have a profound effect on turning everyone into believers of love and that includes the cold-hearted skeptics! Of course, there would be the few that would deviate from the norm. Take a look at R. Kelly for example. The Notebook made him appreciate love so much that he decided to end the marriage with his wife. (Zap2it)

While you can catch Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man, you can also watch and listen to him belt out this wonderful tune called Kiss My Ass. (Funny or Die)

Noticed that a lot of scenes from the trailers and commercials were removed from the final cut of The Amazing Spider-Man??? Well you can catch a compilation of all the things missing in the film and also get a tease of who that mysterious man in the post-credits scene is! (Slashfilm)

The Jimi Hendrix biopic starring Andre 3000 from OutKast can’t use any of Hendrix’s music, instead will cover The Beatles instead. (Rolling Stone)

Neil Blomkamp made quite the splash with District 9. Now he has another sci-fi film on the way called Elysium and now a first look at a gun-wielding Matt Damon has surfaced on the internet. (The Playlist)

Aaron Johnson is making rounds promoting his latest flick Savages and during one of the interviews he revealed a bit more on Kick Ass 2. (Collider)

Well if you see bad reviews for The Dark Knight Rises flowing in, this might be the reason behind it. (Deadline)

To those that haven’t really noticed it, here’s a video highlighting the truth behind this summer’s blockbusters!

Brian Singer’s new webseries H+ highlights the fall of civilization through technology. While the show seems to feature some of the same beats as any other post-apocalyptic story, this one does seem to show some promise. Have a look here.

In the latest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, it shows some of the light humour in the film that was lacking in the previous teasers.

Homage or theft? Well we’ll let you decide, but clearly Michael Bay was heavily influenced by the work of David Fincher.

Having trouble understanding Shakira? Perhaps this will help.
