For the second week in a row, we’re changing up the Monday music post. This week, we’re featuring some music that are absolute musts on your Halloween playlists. This is something we touched on slightly on the first episode of the radio show on October 30, 2007, when we played the Monster Mash. But there are quite a few good Halloween songs for you to play today.
Boris Pickett – Monster Mash
There’s no such thing as a list of Halloween list without the Monster Mash. Every list should begin and/or end with this song. Boris only had hits with monster songs but nothing was bigger than his Monster Mash.
Ray Parker Jr. – Ghostbusters
Could the theme song to the greatest ghost comedy movie of all-time not be on your Halloween playlist? Just say it with me: Who ya gonna call?
Warren Zevon – Werewolves of London
Don’t let the crappy Kid Rock song that sampled this song fool you. This song is a classic. The iconic piano hook and those hilarious lyrics make this one an all-time classic. The fact that it’s about werewolves definitely qualifies it for this playlist.
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins – I Put A Spell On You
What would Halloween be without a bit of witchcraft. Fortunately, Jay Hawkins has his classic song that looks like voodoo but serves the same purpose.
Michael Jackson – Thriller
Not that anyone ever paid attention to the lyrics of this song but it is actually about monster and various things that go bump in the night. Of course, everyone knows that the music video is about zombies and the like.
