Worst of Music: Ke$ha – We R Who We R

Since we’re in our podcast’s offseason (more or less), we aren’t running our usual Worst of Music segment. So I’ve decided to bring it over to the blog for a bit and fill you in on what is this week’s Worst of Music. And when better to do it than on what used to be a #MusicMonday on Twitter. For the first winner of the WoM on the blog, here’s the new top song on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It’s Ke$ha with We R Who We R.

When I first heard this, I thought that the song was skipping. No, turns out that it was playing right which just makes it worse. Like her last hit song… whatever it was called, this one is about clubbing and trying to pick up guys. Basically, it’s a formulaic Ke$ha song with some different words and different backing synthesizers. Mind you, she says that this song is supposed to be a pride anthem for homosexuals. I tried listening to it again and reading the lyrics but it seems the same old same old from Ke$ha.

So congrats, Ke$ha. You’ve won the prestigious Worst of Music award for this week.
