Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Short Order

Just one game on the schedule tonight.  The New York Rangers visited Washington to have their first go at finishing off the Capitals.

NY Rangers 0 @ Washington 4 – With the Capitals on the brink of elimination, it was time for Alex Ovechkin to step up like he did in game three. Except for the fact that he didn’t step up last night. In fact, the hero of the night was Matt Bradley, a fourth line player who so far was averaging less than 8 minutes per game in the playoffs, with two goals to give Washington life for another day. The other goals were scored by the Alexes (Semin and Ovechkin). It was a fairly easy night for Simeon Varlamov who needed to make only 20 save for his second shutout of the post-season. Rangers super pest Sean Avery wasn’t in the lineup as I had predicted after game four. It will be a quicker turn around than usual as the teams head north with Sunday’s game going in the afternoon.
New York leads the series 3-2

Three Stars of the Night:
1. Matt Bradley (Washington)
2. Simeon Varlamov (Washington)
3. Alex Semin (Washington

Saturday’s Schedule:
Pittsburgh at Philadelphia – Pittsburgh leads the series 3-2
Calgary at Chicago – The series is tied 2-2
Anaheim at San Jose – Anaheim leads the series 3-1
