It turns out that it’s not just your normal athletes who are believed to be using performance enhancing drugs. Senior athletes are too. And I’m not just talking about Viagra. (Deadspin)

The NCAA’s rules are absolutely ridiculous. Teams are allowed to feed their players bagels but they aren’t allowed to give them cream cheese or butter to go with the bagel. Hell, even those cheap bastards at Timmy’s give you butter for free. (Sports By Brooks)

Do Politics and Sports Mix?

Tonight, U.S. President Barack Obama is throwing out the first pitch at the MLB All-Star Game in St. Louis. He’s following this with an appearance in the FOX broadcast booth where he’ll likely talk all things sports and baseball related. During the 2008 election campaign, the media kept mentioning that Obama would try to get college football to abolish the BCS and institute a playoff. That’s not even mentioning that championship sports teams all get invites to the White House to meet the President. But is there any reason why politics and sports should mix? Continue reading →

Is The NHL Drug Policy A Joke?

The NHL’s performance enhancing substance testing policy is about to be put through the wringer once again. This time after a Lakeland, Florida man who claims to be Central Florida’s biggest steroids dealer was arrested and claimed to sell steroids to players from the Washington Capitals. The NHL has already had a couple of run-ins with steroid scandals that seem to have blown over despite criticism of league policy. Now that some of the league’s biggest stars could be suspects in a media conducted witch hunt, it’s a good time to actually examine the league’s performance enhancing drug policy. Continue reading →
