In theatres this weekend are two films that didn’t quite live up to the hype. Draft Day and Rio 2 are going to battle each other out in North America. Meanwhile over in Aussieland, Divergent is finally out! Think of it as Hunger Games lite, but it’s still quite entertaining. So once again, I’ll use this as an excuse to kick it all off with the film’s leading lady Shailene Woodley.
After the jump, some tidbits on the upcoming Transformers flick, Marvel is doing very well in the movie business, waste some time with The Raid 2 online game, check out some red band trailers and Drake goes undercover for Jimmy Kimmel.
Michael Bay reveals more tidbits on Transformers: Age of Extinction but remains mum on the backstory for the Dinobots. (Entertainment Weekly)
Speaking of Transformers, here’s a look at all the bots based on the toy images. (Collider)
This is an ongoing trend that I’m really starting to dislike. Of course Divergent is a hit. Of course Insurgent (the follow-up) will be coming out next year. Of course Allegiant (the final installment of the series) will be split into two films once again to milk money out of the fanbase. (Slashfilm)
We’re getting a lot of adaptations of novels to movies or TV shows. Curious how many minutes they spend per page in the filmed content? It’s safe to say for most movies or shows, they don’t spend much time at all. (Mashable)
Looks like Stephen Colbert will have to retire his character on the Comedy Channel as he is tapped to replace David Letterman for The Late Show on CBS. (Wall Street Journal)
Not sure about the cast, but the director won’t be returning for a fourth installment. Anyway, Sony still wants The Amazing Spider-Man 4, but it looks like it won’t happen until Sinister Six and Venom get their own big screen treatments first. (Den of Geek)
New trailer for How To Train Your Dragon 2 and the scale of the action has definitely doubled compared to the first film. (Apple)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now the highest grossing franchise in the States. Everyone knew that it was a matter of time before that little boy wizard gets dethroned from the top of the ladder. (Comic Book Movie)
You know the DC comics films are struggling a bit since they still can’t get a universal cinematic universe in place like what Marvel has accomplished. (IGN)
Looks like Guardians of the Galaxy will lead into Avengers 3. While the latter might still be a while away, at least it sets up a pretty big film when it does reach the silver screens. (Collider)
If you’re looking for some time to kill, how about spending some time playing an 8-bit version of The Raid 2? (The Raid Arcade)
After a very successful season 4 premiere of Game of Thrones, the series has been renewed for 2 additional seasons. Since the producers want to end the show around season 7, it’s a safe bet the series can reach that point. Now if only the author of the books can finish writing them in time… (Variety)
Elmo just refuses to ‘do it for The Vine’. (Mashable)
Another red-band trailer for 22 Jump Street and the new jokes continue to be just as funny. Something to look forward to everyone.
Speaking of red-band trailers, a second one for Neighbors has appeared. Early buzz is pretty good for this crazy raunchy comedy.
First look at Zach Braff’s Kickstarter-funded “Wish I Was Here”. If you liked Garden State, then it is very likely you will like this film as well. It carries the same vibe and if the music in the trailer is any indication, the soundtrack will be awesome as well.
If Mortal Kombat Legacy can be a moderate success in the online short film world, why not Street Fighter? Have a look at Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist.
First look at Girl Meets World. Will this series ever be as iconic as the original? I’m leaning towards no.
Check out the hilarious video where Drake disguises himself and goes out to ask people what people really think of him.
