Entertainment Link-Off: The Bitter Pill

rooney mara allure 1After a whole month hiatus, I am finally back to check in with a weekly dose of the Entertainment Link-Off. I’m sure Steve is glad to hand this back to me now that I got internet access again. So let’s kick off the ELO with Rooney Mara, who can be seen in Steven Soderbergh’s final theatrical film Side Effects.

After the jump, some news on spider related films, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut might be too explicit for the MPAA, Justice League going through some script troubles, guess who turned out the Superbowl lights, a fake oral history on Studio 60, watch how Return of the Jedi would have ended if JJ Abrams made it and a sneak peak at Fast and Furious 6.

Looks like another Spidey villain is making an unexpected return in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. (Slashfilm)

You are never too old to headline your own action movie. So Ah-nold and Sly failed to make a splash at the box office, but Bruce Willis is doing pretty well for himself. Even though A Good Day to Die Hard has not been released yet, he is already thinking of a sixth film. (Bleeding Cool)

No not the porn! To secure an R rating, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut Don Jon’s Addiction will have quite a few porn shots left on the cutting room floor before it hits theatres. (The Playlist)

The first Hitman film didn’t turn out to be that good, so they’re gonna reboot the series. This time it will be titled Agent 47 starring Paul Walker of Fast and Furious fame. (Deadline)

DC is not having much luck compared to Marvel. Their attempt to counter The Avengers with Justice League has hit a setback as the script is reportedly being scrapped. (Badass Digest)

Many of you thought that it was Beyonce’s fault that the power went out in the middle of the Superbowl game, but little did you know it was Bane’s fault! (Funny or Die)

One of the favourite shows on Lowdown HQ is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Have a read of the fake oral history of the show from Onion head writer Seth Reiss. (AV Club)

At least the trailer delivers on what the title promises. The poor CGI aside, at least the film looks like an entertaining B-schlockfest. Have a look at Big Ass Spider.

Now that we know JJ Abrams will tackle the next Star Wars film, let’s look at a creative edit showing how he might have ended the original series if he made Return of the Jedi.

Honest trailer for Skyfall.

This is crazy! Jeopardy decided to list out its clues based on the popular tune Call Me Maybe.

The new extended look for Fast and Furious 6 looks surprisingly good. Who knew a franchise like this wouldn’t run out of gas after its third feature.
