Entertainment Link-Off: Avengers Assemble

The Avengers are here! That’s pretty much the wide release of significance this weekend. While it might be an obvious choice to kick start this with Scarlett Johansson, but let’s do a bit of Can-Con and kick off the ELO with Cobie Smulders.

After the jump, new trailers galore, some more Avengers stuff, Community marathon is on the way, and imagine this summer’s blockbusters as indie flicks.

The new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man is out! The good news is that they’re actually incorporating the 3D in the filmmaking. The bad news, the 3D doesn’t translate very well into the 2D environment, which you will see in the preview here. (Apple)

The trailer for The Expendables 2 debuted this week. The first film with the collection of action stars was a bit of a bust but the new film shows a bit of promise. (IGN)

The new trailer for Prometheus revealed a few more new scenes yet we still have no idea what is going on with the movie. (Empire)

Easter Egg alert! Turns out the Cosmic Cube from The Avengers made an appearance in Iron Man 2! (Slashfilm)

The second end credit scene for The Avengers has been confirmed and revealed. Sadly that was not available for those who saw the film overseas. (Superhero Hype)

Imagine 10 of this summer’s blockbusters as indie films. (Next Movie)

So perhaps the 3 month hiatus was worth it. NBC has announced to close out the season for Community with 3 new episodes back to back to back in one night! (Screen Crush)

Universal Studios is suing Global Asylum over the release of “American Battleship” over similarities to the blockbuster Battleship.Meanwhile Global Asylum, which is known to do knock-off films, thanks Universal for the free publicity. Sadly in their statement, they couldn’t correctly identify the studio that released John Carter. (Deadline)

There was some negative feedback to the preview screening for The Hobbit regarding the new 48 frames/minute format. However, Peter Jackson doesn’t seem too phased by it and reassures audiences will get used it. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Netflix has become the saviour of cancelled shows. After saving Arrested Development, they’re now looking into reviving one of Lowdown HQ’s favourites Jericho. Peanuts anyone? (TV Guide)

Take a look at the sneak peek of Tron: Uprising. The animated series acts as a tie in between the two Tron films that are released so far. While it doesn’t look as sleek as Tron Legacy, the series does seem to be quite interesting.

The calmness to the final The Dark Knight Rises trailer is done quite craftily. This is a film that’s definitely worth looking forward to this summer.
