This weekend marks the release of the highly touted dramedy 50/50 starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Anna Kendrick also makes a splash in the film, so we’re kicking off this week’s edition of the Entertainment Link-Off with her.
After the jump, the new Mortal Kombat movie is finally happening, a list of films that won’t be good in 3D, a theatre got fined for showing The Hangover 2, digging up some Jurassic Park stuff and don’t you wish your cat had as much swagger as Puss in Boots?
Given that Joseph Gordon-Levitt can be seen in the film 50/50, it’s time to look back at his 10 best films in the past. (Rotten Tomatoes)
Good news Mortal Kombat fans, looks like a new feature film is in the making once again! New Line has decided to go forward with the production of the film with director Kevin Tancharoen at the helm. If he can keep up with the consistency of the ‘Rebirth’ preview and the MK: Legacy online series, this one looks promising! (The Hollywood Reporter)
The story behind the ‘alien-inspired’ film Prometheus is still shrouded in mystery despite the fact that scribe Damon Lindelof spilled a few more details about the movie in his latest interview. (MTV)
Scream 4 was pretty much a bust in terms of its story as well as its box office take. Somehow Wes Craven still thinks he can pump out another two films out of this. (MovieWeb)
In Soviet Russia, the Thing absorbs you! Ok, it goes a bit beyond Russia (in fact the film takes place in Antarctica), but it was fun to kick off a link to the Russian trailer for The Thing like that. Check it out for some gory weirdness! (Slashfilm)
The lead actress of the film, Mary Elizabeth-Winstead, kinda gives us a tour of The Thing Maze! (IGN)

In movies, characters are usually killed off because they don’t really serve a purpose… well turns out a certain character from Jurassic Park came to this sad realization and it plays out in a rather funny way. (College Humor)
With Disney’s The Lion King raking in the big bucks from a 3D re-release and James Cameron lining up to do the same with his film Titanic, it’s appropriate to now look at films that should not be converted to 3D. (Moviefone)
Only in America. A movie theatre gets slammed with a $1600+ fine for playing The Hangover II. (Cinema Blend)
Get excited fellow Nerd Herders! Chuck season 5 trailer is here! (TV Line) This should almost make up for the fact that the season 5 premiere has been pushed back to October 28th!
In other Chuck related news to get excited about, Stan Lee will be making an appearance on the show! (Hit Fix)
Don’t you wish your cat had as much swagger as Puss in Boots?
Well since I mentioned Jurassic Park earlier, it would be appropriate to also look at how the film should have ended…
Time for music recommendations of the week…
First up is the latest music video from the band New Heights called Take Me On. Now ignore the poorly choreographed action and don’t question the sudden inexplicable appearance of a Lamborghini. Just enjoy the song. Oh and it also helps to be able to see Clara C so badass in this.
Alyssa Bernal also has a new MV called Soaking Up the Sun! Enjoy.
