Entertainment Link-Off: Get A Room

I’ve drawn in for the entertainment links this week. Since Jackie likes to lead off with someone relevant in his links, here’s Minka Kelly who’s starring in The Roommate. Even the commercials make that movie look Razzie-worthy.

It seems that all TV shows now live and die by the Nielsen ratings. However, these really aren’t the most accurate way to measure the popularity of shows. Here’s a look at why the Nielsen numbers are outdated and why they won’t change. (Splitsider)

After the jump, David O. Russell continuing failure with Uncharted, Bieber fever hits the NBA, and a great CSI parody.

Director David O. Russell did an interview about The Fighter which went well. Then he started talking about the Uncharted movie. This man needs to be stopped. His changes to the “Drake family” is bad enough but casting Scarlett Johansson as Elena has to put the final nail in the movie’s coffin. (Empire)

Someone dug up this cool Easter Egg in Simpsons episodes. If you run all the McBain clips consecutively, you get a chronological series of excerpts from a McBain movie. (The Daily What)

One of Jackie’s favourite events at the NBA All-Star game is the Celebrity Game. That’s mostly because the three-point and slam dunk competitions kinda lacked last year. Well, he’s really going to hate this year’s Celebrity Game because Bieber’s in it. (Sportress of Blogitude)

And the Bieb followed up that announcement by getting the first ever unanimous boo at Madison Square Garden since The Iron Sheik. (Deadspin)

Speaking of the NBA All-Star Game, here’s a collection of every slam dunk contest dunk ever. (Hoopism)

One last basketball link, the boys at The Basketball Jones have discovered a new stat: The Triple-Zero. (The Basketball Jones)

Glenn Beck is a lot of things but smart is not one of them. (Ebert’s Journal)

Aaron Sorkin is hard at work at developing a cable news based drama for HBO. Here is a casting wish list for that show. The Rachel Maddow and Megyn Kelly replacements are very good. (Business Insider)

From the makers of Jerry Springer: The Opera comes Anna Nicole: The Opera. (Daily Telegraph)

Say what you will about US Vice President Joe Biden, the man has a good sense of humour. He even admits to liking the stories that The Onion does about him. (The Atlantic Wire)

IGN came up with a flow chart of how video games are rated. Funnily enough, the ratings process doesn’t involve the game actually being played. (IGN)

Speaking of video games, the upcoming shooter Homefront is being altered for the Japanese release. The evil North Korea is being replaced by Canada. (Kotaku)

I’m not on Facebook so this flowchart means nothing to me but it’s a flowchart to determine what comment you should leave on Facebook. (College Humor)

Lego creations are the latest big thing. For example, the latest Lego photo gallery is famous album covers recreated in Lego. (Daily Telegraph)

Alright, I’ll try to make up for the un-Jackie-esque entertainment links with these next two. First, it’s the 50 most stylish movie fight scenes of all-time. (Complex)

And here’s a list of the 30 craziest TV series twists of all-time. Twin Peaks is on there so it has to be a good list. (UGO)

One of our favourite shows at Lowdown HQ is NBC’s Community. (Ironically, we probably love more NBC shows than any other network but we still think the network is shit.) This week’s episode was a hilarious Dungeons and Dragons episode. I’m not posting the whole thing but here’s as a slightly spoiler-ish teaser.

Keeping with TV, here’s parody of all those CSI/NCIS type forensic cop shows.

Here’s a fun little epic rap battle between Kim Jong-Il and Hulk Hogan.
