John Madden Retires From Broadcasting

NBC announced that NFL colour analyst John Madden is retiring from broadcasting today.  After being in sports broadcasting for 40 years, Madden said he knew this was the right time.

Madden started broadcasting with CBS in 1979 before moving on to work for FOX, ABC, and most recently NBC making him the only person to work as lead analyst for all four broadcast networks.  Before getting in the broadcast booth, Madden won seven division titles and a Super Bowl as coach of the Oakland Raiders.  He is also the namesake and consultant for EA Sports’ Madden NFL Football video game series which has sold over 65 million copies over the last 20 years.

No official word on who will replace Madden on Sunday Night Football but I would imagine that it would be Cris Collinsworth who replaced Madden in one game last season.
