Ubisoft
Not surprisingly, Assassin’s Creed 3 was featured in the Ubisoft presser. There was a new CG trailer and a gameplay demo. The trailer showed this game’s hero, Connor, single-handedly wipe out a battalion of British soldiers. The gameplay demo showed Connor in the woods in a New England winter (When isn’t it winter in this game?). The gameplay footage showed the tree climbing mechanics, combat with animals, combat with British soldiers and a spectacular assassination to cap things off. It all looks new but seems slightly familiar.
The highlight of the Ubisoft was a new IP from Ubisoft Montreal called Watchdogs. It’s based in a slightly altered reality where everyone’s data is interconnected through a network controlled by one operating system. The interesting thing is the graphics. It seems impossibly good for the current console generation. Ubisoft haven’t disclosed which consoles this game will be on but the demo was played live with a 360 controller. However, it is possible that we have seen our first demonstration of PS4/XBox 720 gameplay.
Some of the other games that Ubisoft showed off were Just Dance 4, Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and The Avengers: Battle For Earth (which appears to feature no one from the actual movie). There was a heavy emphasis on Wii U games. Assassin’s Creed 3 is the highlight for Wii U content but there also is an exclusive zombie game called ZombiiU. Other Wii U games Ubisoft announced included The Avengers, Rabbids Land, Sports Connection, Just Dance 4 and Rayman Legends.
