Fails of the Week

Every so often, we take a look at the most epic fails from the week that was in the Fails of the Week. This week, we have five pictures and videos that we think are the most epic fails of the week. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Drake – Headlines

I’ve never listened to this Drake guy or seen him reach the top ten of the Billboard charts. He is apparently popular enough to get regular mentions from the folks that we follow on Twitter with @LowdownBlog. He’s even popular enough to be featured in a commercial for NBA 2K12 where he showed his colours as a frontrunner and clueless about basketball by saying the 2010-11 Miami Heat was the best team of all-time. Well, it turns out he’s as good as music as he is at basketball history with his latest single Headlines. Continue reading

Wallpapers of the Week: November 13, 2011

I like changing up my desktop wallpaper on a regular basis. My wallpaper at work is even a slideshow so I have a new wallpaper every thirty minutes to change things up ever so slightly. So to help you change things up for your work week, I’ve scoured Flickr for five wallpapers that are worth adding to your collection for this week. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: At Week’s End

Well, it’s definitely been an interesting week in the world. We can’t come close to wrapping it up so we’ll just give you some interesting stuff. For example, Ana Hickman popped up on our radars this week which was a very interesting development.

Seeing what a film department has done for the NFL and NASCAR, the NHL is creating its Original Productions department. This can only be a good thing. (The Big Lead)

Following the farce that the Flyers created in their game against Tampa, DGB breaks down the unique defensive strategies of other NHL teams. (Down Goes Brown)

And speaking of unique things, this WWF table-top hockey game could be the greatest piece of merchandise ever. (Puck Daddy)

After the jump, Gina Carano is a great quote, the economics of the McRib and Liam Neeson is a funny guy. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Like Crazy

Well I’m back to write up another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Steve is probably glad he doesn’t have to throw in something last minute again. Anyway, there’s a handful of surprisingly rotten films this weekend at the box office. There’s the visual extravaganza The Immortals starring future Superman Henry Cavill. Also, there’s another Leonardo Dicaprio’s attempt at an Oscar (more on that later) in J. Edgar. Since I missed the release of Like Crazy from last week, I thought I just ignore the films this weekend and kick things off with British actress Felicity Jones.

After the jump, a few movie trailers to take a look at, the crew behind Harold and Kumar seem to do a lot of crazy things behind the scenes, movie posters all look the same, Strombo interviews Kermit the Frog and the Wonder Girls are back with a new music video! Continue reading

Caption This: November 4 – 11, 2011

Inspired by the Globe and Mail’s caption writing person, we waste our time writing funny picture captions for some of the more interesting photos we come across when blogging. So here are some of the best pictures from the past week with a funny (-ish) caption. Continue reading

The Humanoids: Jumping The Shark

I’m sure more than a few regular readers would say that the whole Humanoids column has jumped the shark (or is it nuked the fridge). But that means that I wouldn’t be alone because I would have a lot in the way of elite company.  Last week, I briefly touched on Twitter’s Trending Topics jumping the shark. This week, I think everything in here has jumped the shark. Continue reading

Man Lab Link-Off: The Secret

It’s time for another set of Man Lab approved links. Since the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was last night and Miranda Kerr seemed to be the star of the show, here she is to kickoff this linkdump.

Figuring out women is something that will trouble men until the day we die. But here are ten things that they wished we knew about them. Every head start helps. (Ask Men)

After the jump, how to date a Victoria’s Secret Angel, what men can learn from Friday Night Lights and Kate Upton does a photo shoot. Continue reading

The Best of Occupy Tebow (Part 2)

The revolution will not be quieted until the media has learned its lesson. The media has been hot and cold on Tim Tebow and his inconsistent performances en route to a 2-1 record as a starter this season.  For over a week now, the people have taken to the comments section on an ESPN article on Tebow ostensibly to show what they really think of Tebow but in actuality to show ESPN and the media that they cannot dictate reality but actually have to report news accurately without an agenda..

After the jump, we have 25 more of the best comments from Occupy Tebow. Continue reading

F1 Power Rankings: Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

We’re down to the final two races of the 2011 Formula One World Championship. This weekend, Sebastian Vettel could make it an even dozen wins on the season. Meanwhile, there is still a battle ongoing for second place in the World Drivers’ Championship. Jenson Button has a 13 point advantage on Fernando Alonso with Mark Webber a further six points back. That’s really the only battle left to watch unless you’re interested in the battle from 6th through 8th in the Constructors’ Championship. Continue reading
