Jerry Seinfeld – I’m Telling You For The Last Time

Jerry Seinfeld is best known for his eponymous NBC sitcom which was one of the most successful sitcoms of all-time. What you may not know is that he’s also a pretty funny stand-up comic. In fact, his live shows are renowned for being far better than his made-for-network-TV stand-up featured during the show. However, those live Seinfeld shows cost an arm and a leg to go to. So since I’m passing on my own overpriced opportunity to see Jerry live, I thought I’d do the next best thing: Watching Jerry Seinfeld’s legendary 1998 I’m Telling You For The Last Time show. F1 Power Rankings: Singapore Grand Prix

We have six races left in the 2011 Formula One World Championship. Both the World Drivers’ Championship and the World Constructors’ Championship are all but wrapped up. With a maximum 125 points left to be earned by the drivers, Sebastian Vettel leads the WDC by 112 points. All Vettel has to this weekend is finish on the podium and he’ll clinch his second championship. Meanwhile, Red Bull leads the WCC by 116 points over McLaren. It’s a long way from clinched but it’ll be hard for Macca to close the gap. Continue reading

NFL Week 2 Power Rankings

Tom Brady broke Cam Newton’s record for most yards passing in the first two games of a season. (Jim Rogash/Getty Images)

The second weekend of NFL games brought what should have been a relatively easy gambling schedule but sadly, some teams *cough* Baltimore *cough* decided not to put forth their best effort. They will be appropriately docked in the Power Rankings.

Best game of the weekend was a toss up between Raiders @ Bills and Eagles @ Falcons. Personally, I really enjoyed the Bills comeback victory even though there was little to no defence in that game at all, particularly in the second half. The Bills scored a touchdown on every drive they had in the second half while giving back several to the Raiders. It was back and forth and the home team prevail. And that is exactly what happened in the Falcons game as well. I think the Eagles were the more impressive team but they really missed Vick in the fourth quarter. The Vick injury was among the flukiest injuries I have ever seen. He got hit lightly and while collapsing smoked his head into one of his offensive linemen. Bad break and hopefully he recovers quickly enough but this is eerily similar to how Kolb lost his job (kidding Kafka wasn’t bad but he’s no Vick either).

There were several impressive victories this weekend and with pardons to the Lions and Jets, the most impressive win of the weekend was New Orleans against Chicago. Most people would have predicted this win but the Saints really took apart the Bears and reaffirm my belief that they are among the elite in the league. Like I said earlier, the NFC South should be an exciting battle.

On to the Power Rankings!

Wednesday Link-Off: The Short End

She may have not won any awards at the Emmys but I think it’s safe to say that Nina Dobrev won the Emmys on Sunday. Did I mention that she’s Canadian.

Is Floyd “Money” Mayweather a piece of shit or a cheating piece of shit? Money won his fight against Victor Ortiz by knockout after legally sucker punching him. But what damage did he do to himself and boxing? (Grantland)

Brian Wilson has some pumped up kicks. He was rocking the Marty McFly shoes at a recent game. (Business Insider)

And speaking of baseball, guess who’s coming back to Canada? Hazel Mae is on her way back to Rogers Sportsnet. (Fang’s Bites) Let’s see the morning SportsCentre compete with her.

After the jump, NSFW sports moments, the Buffett tax and Coach wins an Emmy. Continue reading

The Best of Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas 2011

Barrett-Jackson only runs four of its world-famous collector car auctions each year. The final auction is one of its newer ones. This week is Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction which appropriately takes place on The Strip at the Mandalay Bay Resort. Every year, millions of people drop billions of dollars in casinos looking to win the big jackpot. At Barrett-Jackson, car buyers will spend millions of dollars hoping to hit the jackpot by buying the car of their dreams or a collector car that will increase in value. So here are ten of my favourite cars from this week’s auction that will at least be cool for the lucky buyer that hits the auction block jackpot. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Lady Gaga – You And I

There comes a point in some artists’ careers when their style outweighs their substance but the substance is enough to make them chart toppers. Take my campaign earlier this year against the Black Eyed Peas who haven’t put out a good song since 2006. This week’s Worst of Music winning artist really hasn’t put out what I’d call a good song since 2008. Edge of Glory was okay but that was definitely only written to sell to sports networks for video packages. I guess that just gave away this week’s WoM winner. It’s Lady Gaga’s new single You And I. NFL Week 2 Drinking Game

If there’s one thing that goes perfectly with the #1 most watched sport in America, it’s alcohol. But one disappointing thing I found in Week 1 of the 2011 NFL season was a lack of drinking games that covered specific games. There were a couple of generic drinking games floating around the internet but nothing that covered the specifics of the games I was watching. So as an experiment, here is my take on an NFL drinking games with special rules for each game and each network. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: The Drill

I think Jackie whiffed on his choice of linkdump eye candy yesterday. A craptacular looking new movie called “I Don’t Know How She Does It” opened this weekend. While it unfortunately stars Sarah Jessica Parker, it makes up for it with Christina Hendricks. Insert easy “I don’t know how she does it” joke here.

After the recent deaths of three NHL enforcers, Chris Jones catches up with former legendary enforcer “The Grim Reaper” Stu Grimson to talk about fighting in the NHL and the Western Canada “enforcer factory.” (Grantland)

One of the best game shows on TV is Jeopardy. It hasn’t gotten that way by remaining the same though. Here’s a look at the evolution of Jeopardy over the years. (GQ)

Speaking of TV, the most important person on your favourite morning show isn’t the host(s). It’s the guy that spends 24/7 looking for the next big guest to book. (Washington Post)

After the jump, who was actually nailin’ Palin, the oddest headline of the year, and taking down the Kardashians. Continue reading

Another Saturday, another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Kicking off this entry is the younger sister of the Olsen twins Elizabeth Olsen who just happens to be making rounds at the film fests including the recent Toronto International Film Festival.

After the jump, a few trailers to check out, Superman joins Facebook, Source Code the TV series, Steven Spielberg is a step ahead of George Lucas and a look at how Captain America should have ended. Continue reading

OUA Gameday: Week 3

We’re a quarter of the way through the OUA regular season and two teams have clearly risen to the top of the OUA. They’re also the same top two teams from last season and will be doing battle this week. The Western Mustangs will play host to the Ottawa Gee-Gees in this week’s big game but almost all of the games this week look like they could be instant classics. Continue reading
