Man Lab Showdown: Adriana Lima vs. Candice Swanepoel

Our third Man Lab Showdown is likely to be the best one we ever do. It’s a battle of the generations as we pit two Victoria’s Secret Angels against each other. In one corner is Adriana Lima who has been an Angel for the last 11 years and still looks amazing after giving birth to a daughter in 2009. Even at the age of 30, she’s still one of the top models in the world and one of Victoria’s Secret’s top girls. In the other corner is Candice Swanepoel who is in only her second year as an Angel. At 22, she’s already found herself near the top of the modelling world.

F1 Power Rankings: British Grand Prix

We’re only 13 months from the 2012 Olympics. But nobody really cares right now because Formula One has come home for its most historic World Championship race at a disused airfield in Northamptonshire. In fact, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone was the first F1 World Championship race of the inaugural 1950 season. Speaking of history, that’s what Sebastian Vettel seems to be destined to make. He’s finished in the top two in each of the season’s eight races to go with seven poles and a three-race lead in the points. Continue reading →

Wednesday Link-Off: Making An Impression

It’s time for another set of the Wednesday links. Just because this is the usual around here doesn’t mean we have to go with the usual to lead this one off. That’s why we’re kicking off with the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt.

For some reason, U2 played Spartan Stadium in Lansing, Michigan. And for another inexplicable reason, they’re paying to replace the sod at Spartan Stadium before the start of the new football stadium. It’s not like the Spartans are going to make good use of their new turf. (Off The Bench)

At first glance, it seems as simple as drink too much and you get a pounding headache in the morning. But that first sip of alcohol starts you on a slippery slope that drags you toward a rough next morning.

Worst of Music: Britney Spears – I Wanna Go

For this July 4th edition of the Worst of Music, I think it’s only appropriate that we look at the continuously falling musical star of one of America’s former sweethearts. Britney Spears shot to fame in the late 90s as jailbait but hasn’t held onto those heights since she married Kevin Federline. But nobody seems to have told her that her fifteen minutes are up. Sunday Link-Off: Fireworks

Did you know that tomorrow is Independence Day? Well, since this is a Canadian blog, let’s kick of with some non-American eye candy. We’ve got a treat for the Yanks tomorrow, though. In the meantime, here’s British WAG and model Abbey Clancy.

We all know sports owners try to cry poor but is it all just show? Deadspin found some old New Jersey Nets financial statements and examine how they exaggerate their loss. (Deadspin)

But sometimes losses are a result of the product on the field. Take the Toronto Blue Jays who’ve been out of the post-season hunt for almost 20 years. (Grantland)

And speaking of baseball and losses, Charlie Sheen is back in the news. In an interview, he says that he took steroids while filming Major League and his fastball gained 5 MPH. (Sports Illustrated)

Entertainment Link-Off: More Than Meets the Eye

I’m back! After spending a month being buried by books, I’m here again to post a weekly edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Huge thanks to Steve for covering for me during the month of June. Normally I would kick off the entry with someone involved with a big movie release but given that I’m not a huge fan of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, I think I’ll start off with someone that won’t be in the latest Transformers film. All three wide releases this week are critically panned, so there’s nothing really noteworthy, but apparently Katie Cassidy can be seen in some film called Monte Carlo, so here she is.
